Only done it once in 3.5 years ( touch wood ), but generally your guts and your bladder can learn when they have to shut tight, and when they can relax - even on different walks, my bladder will wait till I'm 5 mins away from a specific bush, before it tells me I need a pish

As delivery spans get longer the need to answer the call of nature while out on delivery, as an emergency, gets more and more real.

Ask a manager what you should do in such circumstances and he just looks dum at you.

Now with out being clued up on this subject I have a notion that there is some legislation in this area.

If you see a farmer move a crew of workers into a field nowadays you mostly see the portable loo on a trailer appear as well. Now old farmer John does not go to that expense without due reason and I seem to recollect that there is legislation under the H&S at work act that compels him to do this. Probably someone with more knowledge in this area might confirm.

Given that there is mention of this in H&S legislation can we expect that RM will have these portable conveniances strategically placed around towns and country lanes for our benefit?

i suppose u can get the packet driver to pick u up and drop u to a place of dumpworthiness, i aint heard of anyone do it in my office but i believe they have to do this and it must be within ure works time, its the most basic human right so i cant see them arguing over this 1, and if they did the s**t certainly would hit the pan.

They are still supposedto give us reasonable access to toilets even whenout of doors. Ha,Ha. and as far as I am aware, they should still provide us with a first aid cover--they won't even give you a packet of plasters!

You are kidding right?, drivers picking you up to go to the toilet lol, Loucky in my office if they deliver bags on time and pick up non-del packets. Drivers in my opinion have it very easy and are ussually finished well before me and others.

I have 3 residential homes on my duty and all my bags are taken to 2 of them. Even then my guts will wait until Im at the furthest point possible from all 3 before informing me that a comfort break is needed like now.

Had to cut off in between 2 of the homes once, I was actually on the 2nd floor of a 3 storey block of flats. I didnt make it "in time" and cloth was touched. Had to take em off and finish the delivery "commando".

And had to go back and deliver that top floor.

Thisis a serious issue though brothers, as much as we make light of the subject and our female colleagues are probably not as lucky as us, being able to take advantage of anywhere that is not visible to the passing public.

I say again, I am sure that there is now legislation that covers this area and hope that one of the H&S wise brothers on the site can clarify.

ALL walk logs are supposed to include location of toilets, and the H&S rep is supposed to check each and every log to make sure they have toilet facilities, if not, then your gaffer is up s**t creek in a barbed wire canoe.
