For the full timers on here, when you go up to do your sorting in the morning do you get peeved by those people don't do their share?

Do you think it's unreasonable of me to think that something should be done about colleagues who have been sorting the same secondary for several years but still need to look up at the idiot board for every other item?

Am I right to feel put on by clearing the letters or the flats and then having to go and help finish the packets even though these guys have been stood around the frame talking and doing the bare minimum for their hour and a half?

Sorry if I sound like a miserable bastard but six days of this every week takes it toll.

The bare minimum is all that is required, why sort 50 letters a minute when RM tell us 30 is good enough??

The only thing that peeves me is people not going up when asked for or people being realeased from there IP to prep there own walk.

If some one is going slower than me on the ips i dont give a toss, as this then makes us be on the sorting for longer ,resulting in an impact on my delivery.

You can not have every one working at the same speed its impossible.

30 letters a minute would be wonderful for these people. We'd be lucky to get 15.

Well I'd say my average was about 25-35 per minute, but you CANNOT sort at that kind of pace for 2 hours, its just not possible.

Surely if theres a problem with peoples sorting rate then the gaffer has guidelines which he should follow.

Its never got bad enough at my place for the gaffer to go down such a road, although he does like to moan now and again.

As do the crap sorters, first to say they wont be to complete, yet they are the ones with the poor sorting rate.

The bare minimum is all that any company, who openly despises it's workforce, as Royal Mail amply demonstrates it does on a daily basis, deserves, and only just, in my book.

Infidel .. some offices have 6-day duties, others 4- or 5-day duties.

i generally look forward to the sort, its jokes at our place. other people's work rate isn't an issue for me but where we were merged years ago into the one office its still like we're two offices and when one half has finished sorting for the're post code they cut off and prep the're own walks witch is a bit annoying . we've normally still got about 4 yorks of flats and maybe couple of crate's of manual letters while they're off having a smoke break or what not

Can't moan,you are still 2 offices,2 budgets ect,i wouldn't of thought you have been merged as such,just 2 offices sharing the same building,that's getting more common nowadays.

No-one has picked up on the point that I've made about the use of the overhead. I think it's unreasonable that someone who has been doing the same job (sorting the same secondary every day) would not have learned where everything goes after doing it for, literally, years.

But the duties have changed so much in 20 years, so although I'd expect most to know what goes where, including myself, there are a few streets im unsure of.

And yes, theres the odd lifer who is truly awful, not only do we know it, he knows it too.
