I have an interview for a postie position

Hi guys, I have an interview on the 12th Nov which is this Thursday for a position as a postman. Any advice for the interview please? I am already nervous! What sort of questions will I be asked? They said the interview will be about 45-60mins, why is it so long? Will I be doing a test or something? I really need this job right now and any help to prepare for the interview will be great.

Any advice will be good.

Firstly just be yourself.

There going to be looking for people who keep themselves generally fit so if you enjoy exercise or a sport tell them. Can you ride a bike ? Tell them you can. Its just going to be basic stuff like that.

Try not to get too stressed (I know easy to say) remember its not a high earning career position it’s a postman’s job. There used to be an aptitude test (I think there still is) which is just a very basic common sense easy test.

Finally dress smart casual, just shirt and trousers you don’t need to turn up in a 3 piece suit or anything over the top.

They will probably also ask if you will be able to get into work OK as you
will be on early shifts, so work out how you will be able to do that, so you
can tell them.

# had to work to a deadline

# had to be responsible for something

# had to learn something new

2. What Safety checks should you carry out before driving a Van?

3. What Safety checks should you carry out before riding a bike?

4. Are you willing to do overtime?

Thanks you for the relies guys, sorry to be a hassle but does anyone know what that large machine is called which sorts first class mail from 2nd. it looks like a huge washing machine lol. I did some temp depo work some years ago.

yea, I started just over a year ago and got basically all of they questions aswell

pretty much the same questions as before, also a good thing to do is ask questions as well like what happens when mail comes in to office and ask stuff about when on delivery even if you already know just play along. Thats what i did at my interview and the dim who interviewed me loved it even took me around almost everything in office and showed me what happens at each place lol. I have some good news I have passed the interview stage and I have been told my application is moving to the next stage, now I’m just wondering how many stages are there? Have I got the job?

They said they are undertaking initial checks, I’m just wondering what are these initial checks?
