buy down of hours?

Does anyone know how they work out how much you get, or has anyone had a buy down if so how much did you get? Thinking of doing this, but unsure , thanks.

You can only have a buy down of hours if there is a surplus in your office and there is an agreement between the management and union to decrease the workforce by this means.
It is calculated as the lump sum you would get with EVR divided by the amount of hours you decrease by over the amount of hours you do.
An easy sum is say you are due £40,000 EVR lump sum and you are reducing your hours to 30 per week from 40 meaning a drop of 10 hours so the sum would be-
£40,000 divided by 10/40 = a lump sum of £10,000
But like I said RM and the CWU have to be in agreement over reducing the office hourage this way.

i got just over £8000, ( 40 to 30 hours) so does that mean my EVR lumpsum would be around £32,500 (this was 2 - 1/2 years ago.

In 2007 I had just under £4900 on 16 years service on a 40 hour to 30 hour buy down.

After 2 years you can increase your hours without having to pay any money back, but that would require a vacancy in the D.O/MC

We had one postie in our office of about 70 choose a buy down, He now buys leave and comes in early to prep his walk, Madness i tell you

having trouble at my office took a buy down (or so i was lead to believe) to 24 hours a job share .
but now royal mail are refusing to pay .had given up on this till i heard today that local offices have had people paid for the same job share .
i have been told that unless i have it writing i must of mis heard i did have a letter telling me how much i would get but it got lost .couple of manager changes has not helped as also the union rep taking v/r who was not interested because he was leaving( we now have temp union rep).could anyone give me any infoon wether i could still fight this .

Well I don't really know what you are saying here. Were you on 40 hours and then went down to 24 on a job share? Were you on 40 and just went down to 24 and signed a new contract? Or are you still on 40 hours expecting to go down to 24 on buy down?

was on 40 hours went down to 24 as a job share got told i would get buy down .but when asking where my money was (change of manager) told i was not entitled to this.i have no evidence as the letter stating how much i would get i lost .got no help from the union rep as he was about to take evr ,have since found out ther local offices people who have gone down hours on job share have been paid .have not signed any forms told my manager i would go back to 40 hours then and he said your hours are not in our budget any more and this would not be possible. the money i was going to get was to tide me over on 24 hours .
