Fed up with the CWU,no more picket lines for me ,to help national leaders ambitions.Fearfull of Pegus 2 in Jan.
In paper today DPD are advertising for owner drivers.
Very skeptical ,but curious at same time,well aware of pitfulls of selfemployed,and have spoken to Parcelforce guys before who tell me how tough it is ,but still curious.
Does any body know much about DPD .Have only recently seen their vans about ,did they change their name?
Working from the basis that it is cheaper for them to have self employed drivers than their own,but still curious!

my mate left RM to set himself up as a courier, work was a bit slack a while back so he looked into delivering pkts (for tnt I think), would have worked out at about 60p per pkt though, before taking into account all his overheads.

a colleague took EVR, & now delivering packets for DHL, they bring them to his house & he takes them from there, not sure how much per parcel

Home del network or whatever they are called,there is a guy down my way who i talk to and he says it's getting worse,for instance he is payed 'per drop',with that i mean if he's got say 6 parcels for 1 house he only gets payed for 1 drop,not 6 parcels.
But could be different for other firms,but,as you know,the world is a s**t hole and they will squeeze as much as they can out of you.
I would seriously look at it with a fine tooth comb,and try to chat with someone who is doing it 1st as well.

14 hour days or more, and an hour and a half sat in rush hour traffic going back to a crappy depot on an industrial estate...never again.

now done some digging the company D.O.D. ,Iis the new name for Parcel net, they also own interlink and something to do with parcel net.
Their nearest depot is an hours drive from me,so 1 hour in morning to pick up parcesl ,then drive to area ,then drive back to depot,then drive home.
You only get paid for delivering ,so any 739 no pay.
