CWU GOES INTO DAMAGE CONTROL

Post by upmyroad »

News in our place this morning was that CWU has had to go in to damage control mode. They have got wind the members are just a litle pissed off at them for halting the strikes after we have lost so much money and they have NO agrement.
All London reps are to go to a meeting on Monday so that the area reps can inform them of what the union plans to do next.
Also heard this morning that a lot of London rep's were informing area rep's that the members would not take part in ANY further strike action.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

another thing we heard this morning was that in the 2007 strike the area rep's had to return to their parent office's and do duties there. this was about to happen again and they were lossing their bottle at the thought they might have to do a walk. feeling at our place is they were more worried about their own future than they were about doing their job and and getting a deal.

Exactly what deal? The area rep is merely clinging on to whatever shreds of credibility there is to be gleaned from a joint statement which merely called off the strikes, end of. There is no agreement either long term or interim that changes our position on the shop floor whatsoever. If Dave Ward is naive enough to think that Royal Mail are going to honour any implied negotiation prior to the "forging ahead with modernisation in the New Year" he should stay out of pubs and stop smoking weed - come to think of it maybe he should go to the pub, if he buys the drinks it is as popular as he is going to be until the next election.

Just as a matter of interest the usual doyens of union business Lovejoy and Dingo appear to have their heads well below the parapet - perhaps they could give us the real story.

even i can tell you the true story. they'll keep the union talking till xmas then show them the door. the union will leave with their tail between their leg's and expect us to go back out on strike. we've been sold out for 12 bit's of silver.

You mean the PEC had to share some - didn't they get a piece each? I for one won't be striking next time - mind you what would be the point of a ballot? My bums still sore from the last two.

'' in the final phase of negotiations royal mail and the cwu will DISCUSS the latest version of the business plan, including the roll out of walk sequencing,to ensure a COMMON UNDERSTANDING AND VISION CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE FINAL AGREEMENT''
THEY WILL DISCUSS,IT DOES NOT SAY THEY WILL AGREE WITH THE CWU,
''including the roll out of walk sequencing '' THIS BEGS THE QUESTION ,WALK SEQUENCING MACHINES WILL BE DEPLOYED BUT WHERE ? mail centres or d/os.

'' IMPROVED JOB SECURITY ARRANGMENTS PROVIDING SUSTAINABLE JOBS,MAINTAINING A PREDOMINATELY FULL TIME WORKFORCE,AND AN APPROPRIATE F/T P/T MIX''
is predominately 51%FT 49%p/t ??

THE AGREEMENT READS TO MY EYES VERY MUCH LIKE, THE DUTCH MODEL FOR DELIVERY,A SCALED DOWN IR FRAMEWORK ,TEAM WORKING,AND IS A BLUEPRINT TO INTRODUCE CHANGE WITH MINIMUM FUSS,
CWU SURVIVAL I AGREE IS A MUST,,,WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS WHAT PRESSURE WAS APPLIED ,,I WILL NOT CRITISIZE OUR NEGOTIATORS ,WE HAVE LOST MANY GOOD CWU MEMBERS IN ALL UNITS/M/CENTRES,AND THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY A NEW BREED OF MEMBERS WEANED ON JOB AND FINISH,CUTTING CORNERS,WHO WE INHERIT AS MEMBERS AFTER ROYAL MAIL SELECT THEM AS EMPLOYEES,TRYING TO NEGOTIATE A DEAL TO SATISFY STRONG CWU MEMBERS AGAINST THIS BACKDROP WAS IMPOSSIBLE,WEAK MEMBERS,MANDELSON/BROWN,CROZIER/HIGSON,TIME TO REGROUP ,TAKE STOCK,

Nobody going to go on strike ever again - that's precisely what Royal Mail want, so from now on they can just impose the worst terms and conditions imaginable knowing there will be no real opposition. .
