i doubt very much there'll be any more strikes postman. the feeling in our office this morning was that the union had given in without even trying to get a decent deal. we've all lost so much money backing the union only to see them turn yellow. everyone agrees that london striking alone was a complete waist of time. i doubt you'd find anyone in the south east office's that thought the union were anything other then turn-coats today. if the union think's they can call us back out they better think again.

My rep was going to see if our Rule 13 ballot was still live, but now I've read the so called 'agreement' I doubt anything can be done

Ballots are still live,especially individual offices and if after the 2 week shite bollox chatty chatty chat with management they have still fecked off the P&M deal they signed then........

I can not see any reason why this wont happen,its there in the agreement in black and white.

To me that says 4 day weeks 9 day fortnights etc.Get in there and tell them thats what you want now lets structure the office for it.

Oh johnnyp you are a wag - you don't seriously believe that do you? I'll tell you what, give it a fortnight and see if reporting it to whoever the mediator is solves the problem. The mediator has no power whatsoever, it comes down to local negotiation yet again - the rep says we don't agree - the manager says - so? What do you do then? Ask for a ballot? Walk out unofficially? Ask HQ for help

Im glad ive managed to cheer you up dvbuk55 as reading most of your recent posts on here youve got very negative vibes friend.
If you dont ask you dont get simple.Me i like to tell management want we at our office,and if he dont like it then he had better have a bloody good reason why we cant have it and if im armed with a national agreement that says i can have it then im getting it mate its as simple as that.
I may be wrong here and fogive me if i am but this seems to be the trouble with alot of offices around the country they let management s**t all over them and accept what they say and do.

You are right on both counts johnnyp - the failure to make the IA count has angered me. There was a great deal more to be achieved if we had held out - it is not that I was unsympathetic to the genuine customer with their christmas cards BUT what would one year without a christmas card be in comparison to the destruction of the postal service - and I do believe it is that serious. Big business could cry as much as they like but they are actually the ones who couldn't wait to use our competitors for a cheap service that is destroying us. Royal Mail would not be in this position of cost cutting if there was a level playing field and a reasonable pricing structure and for that we need the Government involved and of course for the pension - for which there is a simple solution, 10Bn, a mere drop in the ocean compared to the Bank bail out. In order for us to progress as a union we have to be prepared to fight and sadly whilst we are the leadership is not. Maybe tomorrow I will feel differently but it's not likely - I don't take losing easily.
