Lots of negatives about the agreement. What would you have preffered?
The main issue I would imagine is an immediate stop to absorbtion. However maybe some people do have scope for extra work and some don't. I would say though that if the agreement made your walks smaller than we would be back in dispute in 6 months time,as they would want us to work our time.
Now there is an idea......if we stopped our cars/came in on time/took our meal reliefs 10 years ago...would we be in this situation?

good comment drb - we often only look at what is convenient for the moment and don't consider long term consequences. Many union members in my office slag off the union but don't follow it's guidelines, and then expect it to be responsible for the problems THEY have caused. Many are cursing an agreement they haven't even seen yet and probably won't see because instead of being curious and finding out, they are waiting for someone to tell them what it is all about - and when eventually told they won't understand a bloody word of it.

A deal on pegasus, being benchmarked against a proper outdoor test. instead of this 4 mph bullshit.
It being the responsability of managment to have to ask staff if they want to work overtime, instead of this crap about telling them if you can't complete thats the only way the harasment will ever stop! and everone returned to there office at finishing time.

I think we should be asking ourselves serious questions now we have reached a new type of employer.
This agreement will bring us back to national agreements,more importantly the IR framework which you register a disagreement and they have a limited time to sort it.This is in the new interim agreement.
However,do we want to be back in this situation in a years time? Because that is what will happen if WE,(yes WE), continue to run around like idiots.
This issue about time/making time/spanish practices is all OUR fault. If you want to blame the union,please note...YOU ARE THE UNION!!!!

Its a shame that many member point the finger of blame at the union.
1. Did the union tell you to use your car?
2. Did the union tell you to run around on your walk?
3. Did the union tell you not to have your full meal break every day?
4. Did the union ask you to start 1-2 hours before your time?
Members will need to get use to working nearer to there times, Without their cars and at a normal pace.

Did the union negotiate the 2007/2009 agreement?
Did the union recommend it?
Did we get a chance to view what was on offer before calling off the strikes?
Did we support the call for strike action?
Did many members give up pay for 16/20 days?
Did we get shafted again?
s**t stinks and no amount of air freshener is going to get rid of the smell.

This was always going to happen..whether we like it or not.Regardless of the economic climate. These idiot chairman/chief execs were given a job to do..and we made it easier for them.
The national agreements are not always my cup of tea.But they are there and once implemented they work.
However us as postie's don't even come to gate meetings cos we are already gone on delivery. Be honest if you've done and then asked someone the next day what the union meeting was about.You can't debate and digest information if you're not there!
This deal,good bad or indifferent,(or any deal for that matter) is s**t, only because WE DON'T LISTEN!!

Fair point made. Yes the 35 hour week has gone missing. The crap phase 4 deal might address this,as this is only an interim agreement.
However the bullying side of it,(major point by the way). Well if you get ex-postmen to manage,remember that they "went over" so as to :

WE listened and WE did the job properly and WE turned up at the gate even ON our day off.

2 A thirty five hour week would be an achievable goal not only would it give royalmail a stable cost base but would help posties workload balance and sickness abcence targets!.
