Re: A letter from your postie
I would imagine Royal Mail would suspend anyone delivering this truth sadly.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Yes, but if the leaflet read/ 5 good reasons why you should be supporting our spouses, partners, the people who deliver your mail. RM could do nothing about it, because the leaflet would be a plea from our families and not us as workers of Royal Mail.

You would have to deliver it on your own time though. They would get you on that alone.Lincox wrote:Yes, but if the leaflet read/ 5 good reasons why you should be supporting our spouses, partners, the people who deliver your mail. We could get the RAF to do a leaflet drop from the air, as they did during wartime. Everyone would scamper to read it purely out of curiosity.

Re: A letter from your postie
Here you go
Dear Customer
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the continued disruption to your postal services and
believe you deserve an explanation.
5 GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE
SUPPORTING YOUR LOCAL POSTIES
1. Royal Mail is introducing a later delivery for all customers worsening the service for you.
2. Royal Mail will require businesses to pay a substantial sum to receive their mail at the same time
they presently do.
3. Royal Mail is planning to close 50% of all processing centres which will significantly delay the mail.
4. Royal Mail plan to rationalise the number of delivery offices as a means of releasing capital. These
closures will mean your mail will arrive considerable later and you will have to travel further to
receive your undelivered packets and priority service items.
5. Royal Mail wants to invest £140 million into additional vehicles replacing bikes and trolleys which
will have a damaging effect on the environment.
5 MYTHS ABOUT POSTMEN & POSTWOMEN AND
THIS STRIKE
1. Postal workers are opposed to modernisation and change. NOT TRUE - we have lost over 65 000
jobs in the last 5 years as well as moving from 2 deliveries to one. We accept there will be fewer
jobs but we want an agreement which provides safeguards for postal workers.
2. Postal workers are striking to protect ‘Spanish practices’ and go home before their finishing time.
FALSE - these practices finished a number of years ago and all postal workers want is a fair days pay
for a fair days work. No more and no less.
3. Traffic has declined and Royal Mail is doomed. FALSE AGAIN - Royal Mail has changed the way
they count mail which is done by weighing mail rather than an individual count. This
underestimates traffic. Moreover Royal Mail made £321 million profit last year. In addition every
single postal worker is doing 30% more work than they were 5 year ago.
4. This strike is about London and it is about London workers refusing to change. FALSE - every single
London office agreed a modernisation agreement which was jointly signed off by the CWU and
management. It was Royal Mail who broke these agreements by imposing change on the work
force and removes what management had previously agreed.
5. Postal workers are misleading the public about bullying by Royal Mail. FALSE – The CWU has
requested an independent body to investigate bullying and harassment in the workplace. Royal
Mail has rejected this proposal on numerous occasions. What have Royal Mail got to hide?
5 FURTHER REASONS WHY POSTMEN &
POSTWOMEN ARE STRIKING
1. Royal Mail has imposed change on the work forcing slashing jobs, cutting earnings and removing
improved attendances.
2. Royal Mail has introduced unworkable standards meaning that delivery postal workers are being
asked to walk at 4 miles per hours for 3.5 hours. (The equivalent of 14 miles every day with often
up to 10 delivery bags) weighing 17 kilos (35lbs) EACH!
3. Royal Mail is bullying and harassing the workforce by intimidating individuals by introducing
unagreed standards which are almost impossible to achieve. When postal workers cannot finish
their delivery management are taking away their whole day’s pay and threatening them with
dismissal.
4. Royal Mail is compulsory transforming individuals from office to office. Inevitably at some point it
will lead to compulsory redundancies.
5. Royal Mail has not only closed our final pension scheme but are now threatening to scrap our
pension altogether. In the main the so called pension deficit was self inflected as Royal Mail took a
pension holiday from paying into the pension scheme for 13 years.

Could the Union not take out a page in some of the national daily newspapers. Royal Mail had a 3/4 page ad in the Daily Record (Scotlands rival to the Sun) and I would imaging they went nationwide with it. To counteract that why dont the Union copy and paste this letter in the nationals?
