country wide overtime ban?

this just would not work so your tryin to tell me an o/t ban would work lets just take how the royal mail and the doms look they would use this as another excuss to lapse dutys you would end up doing it anyway annualised hours would just come in before there time the people who dont strike would do the o/t how the f**k would we get anywhere with an o/t ban wake up

A think you need to wake up overtime will disappear if RM get ther way your performance will become the target to save them from paying it short sighted pal, local DO's run on overtime, budget saving by RM have made DO's near impossible to function withdraw the goodwill and take a look around you, get your office to support strike action.Management can put any hours in where they want mail is still going to fail, if its supported by everybody it works as long as you have no strike breakers in your area undermining you

we are not getting overtime anyways so it is a no brainer, our manager is encouraging streaming/working to our time

Sadly we would have to be reballoted on action up to strike action to have an overtime ban, Yes I know it is voluntary but the employment laws in this country allow an employer to call it unoffiical if on block people stop performing overtime.

We were balloted on action consisting of a strike and thats what we are doing.

Work to rule. Don't come in early, don't use your cars, take your break's and break off. It's simples.

There is nothing management can do about us breaking off. Our D.O. would be f***ed if we all broke off, there would be loads of mail undelivered and it would prove a point to management that we need hours back in the office. Most of our staff are part time with many employees on 25 hour contracts, which is only meant to be delivery. These 25 hour employees ALL PREP AND DELIVER. So they are working 35 to 40 hours a week. If they just did their 25 hours and everyone else also worked to rule our office simply would not get all the post delivered. They would HAVE to give more hours back to us which would mean making the 25 hour contracts up to 33 or 35 hour contracts. Working to rule is sustainable for months even indefinitely. We would lose no money, we would not be so tired and would have a better quality of life and have time to spend with our families. If work to rule was implemented nationally we could tell the press this is industrial action and the press can report on the inevitable backlogs of mail. Work to rule would have the same desired results as a strike but we would be able to sustain the industrial action for longer, with no detrimental affects to posties. This industrial action would result in massive backlogs of mail and would provoke media interest. It's a no lose situation. As time went on pressure would mount on lower management causing them stress, prolonged periods of stress often leads to depression and other mental illness. DONT STRIKE. WORK TO RULE.

Incorrect. We were balloted on INDUSTRIAL ACTION. We were not balloted on strike action.

Look we have not balloted on an overtime ban believe me you cannot take strike action on a ballot with action short of a strike the employment law does not allow for it. Thats why when London took action we had to serve strike notice on pre start overtime rather then just say we will have an overtime ban. I am not wrong Ican assure you have spent many a dark hour with our employment solictors Patterson Brewer for my sins !!

thanks for replies, some interesting points, but as a few say if we working till our time then forced absorbtions are out, losing your ot is better than a days pay every week and as we may get ot breakers we do get strike breakers so maybe that will balance out,but thanks anyway
