Anyone been doing this?

I'll be honest and say not one person has done this at my depot, Myself included, Peer pressure for myself although I only went 20mins over it would of been nice to of taken it back!

Agree with one of the above... Overtime ban days after strike would be good but if I am honest with you I've been overtiming in the week (if I didn't someone else would) - did it to cover my strike loss!

Don't see anything wrong in that?

Eventually backlog will be too big to clear in one day!

There's nothing to stop YOU having an overtime ban anytime you like! It's getting the rest of your office to follow suit - like having a no cars ban. Urinating into the wind as they say to be honest

We had guys coming in 2 hours early last Saturday to clear the backlog, without any o/t

My office (essex) management have been giving overnight ghosters to get it out for the next day. People have been taking them too. Makes me SO mad

please don't be bullied into working over if you do not want to!!!

you don't have to fall out with your mananger at all,
just let them know early in your shift that you will be working to your contracted hours for that day.

I have found the best way is to give them a choice,
a, I can take the mail out ,but i will have to either bring it back the next day or give it to my driver to be returned.

or

b, It is not worth me taking the mail out as I will not have time to deliver it all and it would be inefficent to take it out only to fetch it back tomorrow to be re-preped

if you are unsure about this then talk to a union rep, you cannot be forced to work passed the hours you are paid for

always best to put the ball in the managers court
then its their call and up to them to sort out

This isn't exactly a comment about strikes but overtime! now most of us are 6 till 2 pm.. ..
well yesterday I started an hour later (had a family commitment) and worked a 7 til 3pm.
i couldn't help noticing that it was nearly dark by the time i got home at little before 4pm.
we got 2 months of the days drawing-in and pretty soon nobody is going work more than
an hours overtime without cycling or delivering in the dark.
this was never a problem when our days were 5.00till1.00. or earlier.
i know postman often went to work in the dark but then prep took you towards daylight.

Our office doesn't even have an overtime option. Apart from working rest days no overtime been paid for 3 months.

me & most others tell the dom before leaving the office, "working to our time boss" then ask him "what do you want me to leave?" balls in his court, he normally says do what you can, so that means bring stuff back to the office & finish on our time, i'm not working for free.
