Sky News.. the mouthpiece of the Royal Mail. They've been in their back pocket since day one of these strikes and yet again today they are spouting forth the R.M's deplorable agenda without any prejudice.

Not content with reporting the "real" news over the strikes and the 'whys and wherefores' of the industrial action, which included a very one sided interview with Crozier , who if Sky News were the world renowned news-hounds they keep winning awards for being, should be camped on Crozier and Higson's doorsteps paparazzi style asking why they aren't and have not, attended any of the table top discussions trying to resolve this fiasco?

Last week they reported an over inflated figure for 'back logged' mail and today it's even higher! Yet, if you were to ask anyone in any of the Mail Centres , these figures have been well massaged to make the public panic and feel aggrieved with us 'with holding their mail'.

The third part of this treacherous news reporting is the blatant scare tactics the media has been using to make the general public believe we have been striking for three day blocks - when in reality the company as a whole has been shut down on individual days over a three day period. This of course has left people worried, angry, confused and paranoid that the Postman they see everyday, smile at and have known for years may well be a "SCAB" - Within an hour today, five separate customers asked me if I was supposed to be on strike, and five times I had to explain that the strike had been fragmented to gain maximum disruption to the company and minimal stress on the public. But we shouldn't have to the Voice of the Union or explain what a news organisation is paid to do on a daily basis.

Now with these new dates about to be announced the circle will begin again and the stress on the Postman having to constantly justify his actions is going to end in frustration and conflict on the streets - which is not what we want.

The Union need to inform the New organisations that they are misleading the public and causing unneccesary worry and confusion - before the tide of public support quickly turns into a gentle wave.!

:cry :cry :d'oh!

It really looks like the media are intent on total exaggeration with these 3 day strikes, i have found it very difficult being confronted by customers & having to explain the situation for the last week or so :arrrghhh .

I wish the media could be made to report clearly the block stikes- but there again when have they ever reported anything clearly. It's a case of cerating moral panic within the general public & it's the same with swine flu. Make a big story out of not very much. Maybe we should give them something to really think about with some proper strike action!
