A different slant on strike breakers....
There vare a lot of posts on here regarding people breaking picket lines and working while others are striking.....
Heres my point.
Two years ago I voted Yes to industrial action and then voted No to a return to work, against the CWU's advice. If you remember the CWU recommended we accept the 2007 pay and modernisation deal. I was outvoted 60-40%. I was very unhappy about this and posted that I had read the terms of the pay and modernisation deal from front to back (unlike my CWU rep) and that in my view it would give management the power to implement anything they wanted. I argued that duties would change and we would suffer in the longer term only for a small short term benefit. :cfo :mfo
Well, the tirade of abuse I got from the yes voters was overwhelming.
Well now I watch and see a company in the early part of meltdown. All because we are fed up with the bullying and non discussed implementation of so called modernisation.
Well my friends, I would never cross a picket line, but I genuinely feel that those who do might have voted against this in the first place, be well out of pocket and do not want to be out of pocket any longer, simply because the last time they voted to strike they got shafted.
So lets stop talking about strike breakers and strike breakers and use the energy to beat this ridiculously over paid, under worked and over rated Royal management. :mfo :cfo

to put another spin on it i believe the union know the accepted a bad deal last time and should have asked in more depth exactly what modernisation means and how the royal mail will go about it. They seem to be standing their ground better this time.

i have to agree our union has a lot to answer for. the bad deal we're now striking against for one. london will be on it's 18th strike day tomorrow. but it wasn't untill the national strike that any real headway was made. why the hell did the union keep on calling london strike day's no full well nothing was going to happen untill everyone was out.

I understand your point of view and do not take this as an attack......but we are using our energy against management as we speak..!! In roughly 5hrs I will be joining the picket-line at my D.O.,an office which is a helluva lot stronger because we have a 100% turnout..!!
This is the reason these strike-breakers are getting such a hard time....because, can you imagine Croziers/Higsons faces if we had 100% returned ballot papers with 100% 'yes' vote.....? We would have a lot better hand to bargain with....these strike-breakers give management the slightest glimmer of hope...and mention them every chance they get....!!! So...personally I ain't got time for any one of them.....let them rot...!!!!

They kept the local IA(Not just London) going so that they could get close enough to Christmas to exert the maximum pressure.kwikpost wrote:i have to agree our union has a lot to answer for. the bad deal we're now striking against for one. london will be on it's 18th strike day tomorrow. but it wasn't untill the national strike that any real headway was made. why the hell did the union keep on calling london strike day's no full well nothing was going to happen untill everyone was out.

The dispute could of been over in no time at all. Im on holiday this week but i'll be on the line in the morning. Lets have a bit of commitment eh!

Re: A different slant on strike breakers....
Totally undestand and my post was to see what the general opinion was. My gut feeling is that we are pissed off having to strike but willsee it through to the end. And its the right way, I was just thinking that there is a lot of energy involved digging out strike breakers. But it does seem that the majprity are doing this the right way. Good luck everybody............. :mfo :cfoIPS wrote:AgreedGodric wrote:HESS wrote:I understand your point of view and do not take this as an attack......but we are using our energy against management as we speak..!!
