Rumours are that sat strike could be call off!!

Post by kwf166 »

According to our union rep, the strike on Saturday could be called off,and on the news they are currently reporting the union and royal mail are having talks, so he told me to keep an eye out, just incase, because if a deal is reach, you will be expected to work tomorrow, I would of thought the union would let us know soon, surely, and what about the rest of the staff who have picketed, they have already lost money, if this strike is called off, i can see a backlash amongs it members, but anyway just beware guys, you could be working tomorrow.

I got a phone call from one of my line managers informing me that there is a 70% chance the strike would be called off. I'm prepared to go into work anyway If the strike is called off (going to picket line wearing uniform :P) but i'm especially entertained by the fact that he was able to give me a percentage chance.

I just check on the cwu website and this is what they say....

Postal Dispute Update

29th October 2009

Post strikes for Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October are still on. No further strikes have been called today.

The CWU is seeking further talks with the Royal Mail to reach an end to the dispute. Efforts have been made today to arrange further talks.

At this stage nothing further can be said. The CWU remains available for talks and hopes to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

I think it would be too late to postpone this week strike, as I am sure some will take the chance to get away for the weekend, its the media again, trying to confused us all

The strike is on tomorrow . Only the postal execuitve has the authority to call it off (not the officers ) and they are not meeting till Monday. Expect a further annoucement today but not on calling action off.

I've just seen the news on BBC news and don't think their is any chance of the strike being called off. If anything the strikes will escalate.

The irony is of almost Blackadder proportions at times. We are aligned with the COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS UNION , when it comes to the actual communication aspect they seem to fall short time after time.Today I was handed a CWU briefing for all the staff dated..23.10.09. Needless to say, everything within it has already passed us by!

We have a 32" plasma tv installed in our office which was supposed to be a direct line to Royal Mail for briefings. Surely the Union with their immense resources at their disposal could engineer some sort of mass 'mail out' be either by email or Flsah video direct to people's pc's , informing us 'live' how matters stand.

Considering we give these shysters £2.92 a week x by a minimum of 120,000 a WEEK which equates to : £350,400 - and that's just from the Royal Mail side of the Union!!

:confused :so there
