Complain that the person sorting your frame is not sorting up to standards.

Missorts happen, but I've seen it happen alot in my office, people sorting a duty that they are not taking out simply don't care about accuracy and will fire the mail into the frame so fast that they can't have possibly read and comprehended the address on the letter.

That being said, if you have a missort and it is within a reasonable distance from where you are, you should deliver it, especially if it is first class, and inform the manager when you get back (or next day as most cases will be) about the frequency of the missorts you are getting. Make sure to claim for the OT if the missorts cause you to go over your time.

EDIT: Also m/s is not a valid endorsement but alot of the time managers seem to be willing to let the occassional missort slide.

We have been told before that "missort " is not a valid endorsement."Check redirection " would be a suitable alternative.
Round up the usual suspects.

That's pretty good advice Bazman. We had a guy in our office, who got a warning for endorsing all his bangers with missort

I think you mean a mis-prep which is different,a mis-sort is an item that is not at it's final destination,be it
the right frame or delivery office.
it's accepted however that people make mistakes,no-one is 100% perfect(sorry if i've offended anyone on here :Very Happy )
if you mis-prep an item or items, and you have time after you've completed your delivery,it's expected you should go
back and deliver it.
There's nothing wrong with endorsing the item as mis-prepped,some managers have even suggested because it's
your mistake you should deliver it in your free time :no no

Thanks for the advice, I usually write m/s when 2 letters are stuck together and find that one of them is miles away to re deliver,

I endorse and return between 15-30 miss prepped items each day manager knows I bring them back I only deliver in the odd chance I have enough time which is normally once a month only.
Royal Mail won't break me, though its been fairly close recently!

Just another point of relevance,we lodged a disagreement in our D/O (various issues)
But one of the sticking points was about mis-preps.
We asked "if you have 3 or 4 mis-prepped items and you have time to go back and deliver them, but you
are also expected to lapse a couple of streets elsewhere within this time,in terms of an obligation to the
customer,which takes priority?"
i can tell you that after at least 3 months,we still haven't received a response :hmmmm

this is what cracks me up,you get a warning for bringing back missorts but if you havent got time to do your lapsed duty bit, its often left till the next day in the frame and nothings said.talk about double standards. and i bring my missorts back to the office. :whistle

I am a control freak so hate people prepping a round I have to deliver.

What really hacks me off is when a slot has two addresses and the person prepping it doesn't bother to "left & right" the mail. :mad

So when out I always check the next drop before I leave the current one.

But hay ho the new machinery will take care of all that - NOT :hmmmm
Please sir can I have more?
