Dave Ward v Mark Higson

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

In my honest opinion (and I typed it in full to emphasise that) I think Dave Ward is a lot better on the news reports at getting his points across. Mark Higson comes across as a waffler and procastinator and Dave looks a lot fresher than Mark, I wonder if the pressure is getting to him.

Of course I recognise that I am biased but as people have said it looks like the CWU hierarchy have learnt lessons from 2007.

No, I agree totally with your thoughts on this.

agree. Ward has really impressed me. Would anyone else like to see a live debate between Higson and ward? I get slightly frustrated when Dave asks the interviewer to put some really good points to Royal mail, but you just know the interviewer never will. Would love to see Dave Ward put these points to Mark Higson Live on TV. Never going to happen though.

Watched the pair on Sky this morning:

Higgson looked like someone who did not have any authority. No doubt in my mind that Ward could sign an agreement where Higson would have to run off to Crozier for permission. He looked and sounded totally uneasy. :cfo

Royal Mail senior managers have consistently refused to appear or debate with CWU Officers.
Wonder why that is? Have they got something to hide, or do they know they would be exposed
as liars?

there's that corrosive cynicism about with fiddling politicians , fat cat bankers etc . Dave Ward and Billy Hayes come over as what you see is what you get , playing a straight bat - a refreshing change .

At the end of the day , Higson was just another Board Room Bully brought in to soften the Union & staff up for privatization . He might have been successful elsewhere doing that but the CWU & Posties aren't a soft touch .

Higson on his £1 million salary would be very uneasy in the real world , just another once faceless bean counter and Hatchet Man . Crozier's hands were shaking on sunday as he knew just how much stick he'd get if Marr mentioned his salary .

To be fair they are just :mfo 's attack dogs - hired hands .

The now retired Op's Director rescued him with the Spanish Practices smear in 2007 , he's only got spin , smears , mind games & distortion , half truths and lies to fall back on now . The only people that Higson and Crozier will appeal to are the rabid - " sack 'em all , ban unions " etc Tories stuck in a 80's time warp .

that's the problem with that old fashioned regimented style of management - OK , everybody has to be singing from the same hymn sheet but not to those literal extremes .

Agree. Dave Ward was excellent on Sky this morning. Keep him at the forefront of the media campaign and lock Billy Hayes up in a back room to deal with details. The weak link in our campaign is our funding of the Labour party and Billy Hayes has dirty hands on this issue while Ward I feel would break that link tomorrow without fear.

DW resigned from the New Labour NEC on principle which I respect , Billy is a old school tribal Labourite , but unfortunately for Billy ; the party has been hijacked by Blairites & Brownites ( the opposite side of the same coin ? ) and can be undemocratic - Conferences are glorified rallies etc - I agree the funding issue will keep coming back like a bad penny with Billy .

The oldest trick in Politics is " scupper this strike for us and we'll look after you " as they know many top union officials aren't exactly at the top of a Headhunter's list , come the time they have to apply for reelection . Johnson is a classic case in point .

Quite a few New Labour whips are ex union men - enough said .

Nooo NOT Hayes..... i would replace him with Geraldine Smith MP....
Another thing, i remember the last set of tube strikes, radio presenter spoke to RMT guy and then London Transport guy and both blaming eachother. The presenter then said, ok we will have you now both on the line to hear you battle it out and see whos telling the truth. I think the LT guy bailed out.....Now wouldnt that be fun if something similar happened?
