Whenever i go somewhere else apart from my home environment, like on holiday, or another city pissed up, if i see a postie i always go up to them and say (if its abroad) "Me postie UK you postie France/Italia/wherever".
If its another town say for example, if i'm there for football at an away game, as i did at Histon last year, I was in a pub and saw a postie finishing his rounds, so i legged it out of the pub to talk to him. Do any others do it?
I said to my mrs that i feel there is a "postie brotherhood" and i have to talk to them. I do believe this really, that is why i am finding it hard to get my head round people shitting on their "brothers" by acting like one of Thatchers Children and breaking the strike with their me me me attitude!! :mad

Nope sorry never do this and never usally if its at the begging of my jollies i have a slight chuckle to myself thinking thank f**k im out of it for a couple of weeks .

When i see one at the end of my jolLies its met with shear dread as i no ive got to soon get back to it .

So my advice to you brother is seek help but i admire your comradeship so stay strong buddy and lets fight the fight together.

I was in Kathmandu, Nepal about 20 years ago and came across what looked like
a sorting office, though it was only the size of my living room. I stuck my head in
the door and greeted them and said I was a postal worker from London. The three
people inside didn't seem too interested, I don't know if they understood me.
I've had a couple of American tourists tell me that they were US postal workers
when I've been emptying postboxes in London.

I was on my jollies last year and had a day out in Looe,there was a guy delivering to the shops in a van and looked knackered so I said `Lapsing is fooking s**t eh mate?`
Thought that he wouldn`t know where abouts I came from, but a guy I knew from our office(and had helped keep his job) had moved down there 10 years earlier and was his best mate so he was used to my accent.

I`m usually like Monkeyboy and smile to myself knowing that I`m away from the shithole and the bullying and intimidating atmosphere of Royal Fail.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!

Sorry but as a "seaside town" postie, I get stopped by other posties on their hols about once a month, and I have to say its a bloody nuisance, why cant they realise I have 8 hours work to do and 6 hours to do it in, and the last thing I'm interested in is hearing about how theyve worked in the job for 30 years etc etc etc.

If ever I'm off work (holiday, whatever) and I see a postie, it sends a cold shiver down my spine. The grim reminder of the crap that I'd blissfully, temporarily forgotten.

That's crap mate, you shouldn't hate your job that much. I know it's shitty and you get treated like scum but stay strong and don't lie down and give in to people who treat you like the dirt they are.

Next time you're in Histon make sure you go to The Boot or The Red Lion as I recall when we spoke you had come out of the Barley Mow :wink:
For any Grimsby fans visiting Histon the Red Lion supports the Mariners as its other team !
