UPDATE RE: 40HR WORKING WEEK

Post by ulster postie »

Went into work this morning and was greeted by my dom, can i have a word, i am giving you a reasonable request, i am moving you to your old town walk, as you are refuseing to work o/t to complete your rural duty, you have 5 mins to change your mind. Needless to say i refused and therefor have been suspended.
THIS IS A TYPICAL REASON WHY WE ARE NOW IN THE MESS WERE IN. B/H BY MANAGERS JUST BY REQUESTING TO WORK MY CONTRACTED HOURS, NO MORE NO LESS. I MUST POINT OUT TO THE (I WONT STRIKE PEOPLE), IF WE LOSE THIS BATTLE, THIS IS THE FIRST OF MANY CIVAL RIGHTS YOU WILL THROW AWAY. Anyway have been in touch with my branch and the response has been very incouraging, so im prepared to take this to its finale conclusion.

I'm going to say this but we have now gone the full circle regards to employees rights, i think early 1900s ? but question that workers were explicited with no rights. Now we do have rights but the don't count for nowt. All unions have to stick together and work together or employees will have no rights. And continously explicited. This will only get worse when the tories get into power.
Unions start joining forces and protect your employees.

ulster postie, your DIM sounds as though he must have just recently won the UK "dickhead of the year" contest.
This is exactly what the CWU must sort out for us, this constant bullying and harrassing of workers in order to take on ridiculous workloads. I hope your branch highlights your predicament, typical of what many other postal workers suffer on a daily basis, to HQ as soon as possible.

Very best of luck to you, mate. And I hope your DIM gets what he truly deserves.
