Well I filled out my shift choice sheet last week for the pressure and on it it clearly states that certain shifts or parts of shifts are SA's.

MC, by the way, don't know how DO's work.

What is the scenario at the pressure? I work in a DO and would quite happily work my 40 hrs and tell them to shove the OT where the sun dont shine. Can you just do your set hours or do you have to do more on the days where there is 1 or 2 hours SA added on? I've been told before from management that it is in your contract that a reasonable amount of overtime is expected to be done at this time? Is this true?

No

No you don t have to do any O/T at all. But they normally ask if you want the 12 hours or so SA to cover going over your time. All I am saying is that I was told there is no SA this year. So you cut off or absorb I suppose??? :cfo

I think that legally goes out of the window at Christmas and you can do up to 70 hours if you are mad enough!

They tried the no SA thing last year in London, but we got it in the end, although this year could be different.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Managers know already know whats going on. No SA payments for delivery. This cost cutting is getting ridiculous to the extreme. Crozier is cutting costs to the extent that he will end up with a £4 million pay package next year. Royal Mail and Christmas go together. Watch all the shops in your local high street start advertising for staff because of the Christmas period. But no, Crozier expect us all to pick up the 30% increase in volumes ourselves for no money, while he siphons off his million pound package. Totally disgusting. With this government and this management structure all over this country we will have a winter of discontent. :mfo :cfo :mfo :cfo
