Part time contract
ive been a postie for 2 years but only on a 22.5 hour contract. How can i increase my hours to a reasonable amount. At the moment i work day off and do overtime (always a third of some crap duty). Tried asking big boss but he not listening. Help us part timers please

The fact you do the overtime and work yer day off is the exact reason you'll never get a full time contract.

I'm sorry to say you should count yourself lucky with the hours you have, as 5 hour contracts seem to be the way things are going. In other words, I wouldn't even bother trying.

I'm in the same boat. been part time for 12 years. could have gone full time 5 years ago but stupidly turned it down as it didn't fit my circumstances at the time. Now I really need full time can't get it. our only hope is that something is agreed in the deal the union are trying to work out. It seems one of their big aims is an agreed ratio of full time / part time. Which means that if a full timer leaves through retirement or voluntary redundancy the most senior A/G can apply for their job.

Your best chance is to get some seniority and wait for a repick. Who knows how long seniority will last though?

You could try getting on collections a couple of hours in the evening, that's if you can drive..
