we're going to get sold down the river AGAIN

Post by studmuffin »

Ive got a bad feeling about today’s meeting, with rm, tuc and the union, I don’t think it will make any difference what is agreed today, i just don’t trust any rm management to play by the rules when there is an agreement, after the last 2 years rm management performance, you could not get this bunch of tossers to agree that the world is round or it gets dark at night or water is wet, before they would change their plans again. I think this is a stalling process because I can see this situation happening again before we are wearing tnt uniforms.

I don't think they have - I've got BBC News 24 on in the background and they have just had a piece from the TUC HQ and they said talks were still going on.

I am open minded on the outcome of these talks yet.

I wonder if Brendan Barber is best pleased that Royal Mail shafted him big style in the 2007 talks.

If the guy has an ounce of credibility left he will be making sure that the same does not happen again.

I foresee a deal done by Wednesday (Tuesday night earliest). Not so quick (monday/ early tuesday) as we will think we have been sold out. Expect news of it Wednesday for stikes called off.

This is just my opinion and it's based on nothing other than cynicism.

A deal has been agreed which the PEC will make a decison this afternoon. More will follow.

Lets have a look at the deal - not that I don't trust the PEC of course, BUT we have been in this position before. Keep the strikes on! Take a measured decision over the long weekend and put the deal to the membership for feedback BEFORE the support for the strikes is lost. We need to know that the agreement is of benefit to us ALL and not the chosen few.

I'm sure the PEC and the leadership are aware of what the feeling on the shop floor is and the price they will pay if this is a cop out.

Its being reported - sort of - on BBC News 24 at the moment.

Rather overshadowed by Afghanistan reports.
