Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
We normally have a sit down christmas meal with fellow posties we work with and it is a warming time of commradeship and getting to know your fellow workers, but this year It seems I will be breaking bread with strike breakers (f**k it, I mean strike breakers) the same fellas who went last year, I am my own man and have made up my mind but what would you do because I feel it not right to attend?

Re: Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
We have the same thing in our office, but our two strike breakers don't attend. It's made clear to them that they are not welcome.
When they crossed our picket line in 07 they were well aware of what they were giving up for a days pay.
Apart from hardly anyone bothering with them all year, me and my colleagues certainly wouldn't want to share our xmas dinner with them.

Re: Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
I have to say this has affected me, not so much a xmas meal, but a colleague whom ive worked with for 10 years who up to now has always been a strong supporter of the Union. However to the shock of all he came into work on Friday.
I am afraid I will view his opinions differently from now on. So would I sit round a xmas table with him.
Nope not this year matey.

So peace on earth and goodwill to all man goes out the window huh...?
Even the soldiers in WWI got out their trenches on Christmas day to shake hands and greet each other.....
Solidarity is admirable but by not inviting someone at least to your Christmas dinner, are you not promoting that bullying and harrassment which you are so adamantly against....?

Re: Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
Trouble is all the strike breakers will be benefiting from any agreement that is reached through our own hard efforts and sacrifice.
I won't be eating a christmas dinner with them. Maybe I will bring a doggy bag and sit in my car and eat, and BTW I don't dig christmas as I am a grumpy w****r.

No I'm not being paranoid, they really are out to get me.

No of course not i look forward to spending the christmas period with my friends at workneilf wrote:So peace on earth and goodwill to all man goes out the window huh..
Its just the odd one who spends all year shouting his mouth off about how bad the jobs become and then is not prepared to give up a days pay to support his friends.

Easy answer; As they are obviously "Turkeys", a couple of you grab one of their legs each, then say... "Make a wish!"

As a scab he has shite on you and his work mates, so why would you want to sit down with them? Thats almost saying you accept/forgive them doing the dirty on you all, so arrange the meal without him! Thats what we have done for the strike breakers who came in in 2007 for the last 2 years!

Well in lad stick to your guns im f****d if i would share a table with strike breakers not in a million years keep to your principles.
And seen as im not a holy person who gives a s**t on what day of the year it may be.
You would most probably choke on a sprout anyway so save yourself the grief as i dont think one of those strike breakers would do the heimlick manouvere to dislodge the offending sprout would they.

Re: Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
I am not going to the xmas meal this year anyway. Trouble is its only going to end up in an argument if any of the strike breakers go. After a few drinks I cant see it going any other way.
Also its £23 a head fixed menu and time you put ale on top its more like £40. With the strikes and money lost and all I would sooner spend the money at home this year.
edit : but i am a grumpy bastard though

Re: Christmas Dinner with strike breakers
Go and have your dinner with the strike breakers! PLEASE! Order the most expensive stuff on the menu! If there's caviar on the menu, get it ordered.....TWICE! wash it down with a few bottles of the most expensive champagne you can find! You know that brandy that bars have? The one that is like 100 years old? The one that is like £50 a measure? Have a few of them at the end of the night.
Just before the bill comes have a mate call you and take the call outside though......
Don't go back in....DO A RUNNER!!!
THEN SEE HOW THE STRIKE BREAKERS LIKE BEING s**t ON WHEN PEOPLE DON'T STICK TOGETHER FOR SOMETHING THAT IS MORALLY RIGHT
