IF we fail, this is what I see, everybody reduced to part time with bribes to buy down, those that refused is made redundant, van share comes in, 6xD2D streamed into mail with no extra payment for it, privatisation brought in external "expertise" brought in, TNT, UKmail, etc will be using RM yards to drop off bulk mail, for us to deliver.

IF we win, dump working all hours paid idea and flexing, this just creates an intimidatory enviroment, improved working conditions, a more realistic approach to work, a more open disciplinary procedure and a recognition of RM as a Social service not a commercial enterprise, dumping pegasus proper walk testing brought in, introduction of ISMs using it as an opportunity to open vacancies for staff, any surplus staff do have the option of taking VR or retraining, ending part time culture and creating more walks to accomodate workloads, reinstate 2 deliveries.

sort the Pension black hole.

I am at the point where I think, should I stay or should I go ?, should I hang on and hope it gets better or jump ship with a VR package and take my chances outside.

If we fail and HQ sign up to another shite deal as in 2007 I'm leaving. I used to love this job but now I'm buckling under the workload and stressed out by managers talking to me like i am dirt. With retirement age rising there is no way I can spend another 20+ years of this, it will kill me.

Sadly, and it really is quite sad to admit it, but i totally agree that if the workload go's on as it has been increasing i believe the job will cripple me

I hate to say this but we are fighting the government and I think RM will get what they want, but it may take a little more time to get the changes because of the strike. Its VR for me as a 4.15 walk is killing me now and talk of 5 hour walks is madness.

I'm hanging on in there for as long as possible, but with the way things are going with management and the no good, back stabbing snakes I have to work with, I can't see me making it to retirement age. If I don't end up quitting before I kill someone I'll be carried out of there and spend the rest of my days confined to a wheelchair because my knees and ankles have finaly given in.

I certainly don't mind working my full paid hours, but I want to be able to manage my workload comfortably, not barely manage it now with the prospect of even more being piled on me later.

Ahh when I think back to how it was when I first started working for royal mail all the way back in the mid 1990's......

I feel the same way, I spend most of my delivery time dreaming of ways to leave

I would leave today if I could get VR.

As for the current dispute, I will give my all to win as the alterative is for us all to be replaced by short term, minimum wage 16-20 year olds who run around deliverys bypassing every rule in the book. Then get sacked for sickness / stealing mail / dumping D2D's or starting to slow down to a normal delivery work-rate.

There’s no point in lying and saying that “the jobs the best its ever been” or “I feel simply great after completing my 4.30 walk and then onto my 30 min absorption” because its not true.
If it was true and I felt that I was able to maintain or increase my workload for the next 20 years I probably would not support the strike at all.

The fact is they have put more and more upon us to the point where it is becoming physically impossible that once you reach a certain age (I am early 40’s), and no matter how much you keep yourself fit, the job will cause you pain and injury. This is almost a Victorian culture that they are trying to put upon us and was eradicated from other industries years and years ago.

This is what I want to change in Royal mail so why pretend and lie about it.
