Mailsort on a Saturday?

Although I was on leave when the strike occured, one thing happened afterwards that has been brought to my attention. On the following Saturday, no wagon arrived with any mail until 6.30 (supposed to be there at 5.30). The only mail that was in the office was that left over from Friday, including a lot of MS items. The manager made the case that since it was MS3 that was due on Friday it had now become 1st class. There was a bit of a dispute over this but as far as I can tell, a lot of folk ended up taking it. Is this right? Our manager has since spoken to his boss who said he 'did the right thing' but he would say that, huh?
Your thoughts, please?!

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT MAILSORT ON SATURDAY, AFTER A STRIKE? MY VINDICTIVE MANAGER WAS OFF ON SATURDAY SO I DIDNT TAKE IT - BUT I'M NOT BRAVE ENOUGH WHEN HE'S IN!!!

We were told we could leave it to monday. I don't think the acting DOM or any of the multitude of revolving line managers were brave enough to tell us to take it out.

Ours is a small office (only about 30) with the one DOM and no Union Rep sadly. There has been many an occasion where something gets slipped through due to not knowing where we stand about something. Still, thanks for that!

You need to find out who your area rep is, then if anything is said you are not sure about he/she can be consulted and if necessary raise objections at area level.

we have had this same sort of argument in the past about bank holidays(they wanted it delivered on sat) we said get stuffed,
they rung around and an upper management t**t said not to take it.
If your on IA and it isn't delivered tough, it's still MS and it should go on Mon.
(please check with your area rep before action) This was our argument.

we han to take our mailsort, the people who worked on friday in my office were not happy, cuz they didnt sort it (HA HA HA) also we cut of at 11.10am. I did cuz I fell off my bike and broke my fingers, spent 3 hours in A&E and now of sick - YIPPEE

. At least your getting a rest. A guy here broke 3 fingers and they get him in sorting but not delivering.

but i did go in mon and tues and on a rural delivery, and with no training - BEAT THAT - and i was driving one handed, not allowed to drive now boo hoo, doc told me no, so I aint, plus on saturday I made my boss come and pick me up

We had 2 bundles of mech mail for each walk on the missort van on the saturday. We went to prep it into frames and the DUM stopped us. If mailsort was supposed to be delivered on friday then its lost its date integrity and should be delivered. Our DUM didn't want to pay excessive docket the day after the strike. Left it all in. Some of the members asked me to take a photo for future reference. Sad bastard tried to do me for it. Got out of it by saying the members requested me to take the pics. Had to delete them of my camera tho.

It was agreed under SDD that Mailsort 3 could be left on Sat to allow for early finish. :cfo
