If you phoned in sick after the strike day then RM should pay you for the time off but not for the strike day. If they are refusing to do this then you need to see your union rep asap as this is not legal. TBH I think they are trying it on mate. Call their bluff

in the week building up to the strike, the posties in my office were dropping like flies. In my opinion, its a pussys way out. What are these people going to do next week? or the week after? the thing is, these people, along with the people who's day off it was/annual leave, go down as people who didnt strike aand are used in the rm proppaganda to the public. its a joke.

Stick to your principles mate, even tho there are a few strike breakers and spineless people floating about, the majority, like you and me are doing the right thing.newpostie wrote:thats why i didn't go sick on thursday because i wanted to loose my pay on friday! so i wil be back in by next saturday when the next strike is, and i will loose my pay then too! same in our office, so many people went sick on the bulid up to friday!

People can rightly have a go at those union members who cross a picket line, but I actually hold those who go 'sick' in more contempt, frankly.
At least the strike-breakers are upfront about undermining the union or not wanting to lose pay.
The ones 'throwing a sickie' want all the perks of crossing the line (getting paid), without risking any of the wrath of their colleagues
Serves 'em right if RM withold their pay, imho.

I've been off sick with swine flu but felt better on Thursday so I phoned in and said I would be back, apparently the LM was rubbing his hands on hearing this message so he could stop me a days pay on Friday, he knew damn well I'd be on that picket line all day
