I have been amazed at the public response supporting the workers during the strikes.I have just seen paul moffat(cwu) on bbc news he came across very well and said in a poll 80% of the public were behind the postmen,reason being is that they now all see what the strike is all about.So seeing this public support and the solidarity of all our colleagues,plus the fact the union seem to be finally getting there message across.This makes me proud to be a postman.

Totally agree we have more support this time than we had in 2007. The public are starting to turn on Royal Mail.

Just had my post delivered, he didn't look like a casual! Funny thing is I got it earlier than normal.... No it's not funny it's p¥**¥d me off!! he had his head phones in probs so he can't hear the abuse when going through picket line

a lot of the population think that eastenders is real so i would'nt worry about the money factor you could explain everything to them but they would still be none the wiser.

We all can't afford to strike but this are jobs, pensions, conditions at major risk if we lose this we are all finished.

Sadly there are whole offices that are working today, I know of two which are close by to my DO (which is 100% all out) that have worked through every strike since I've been at RM. My local mail centre is scab central too

In our office the support was solid. A couple of outsiders bused in, and one who crossed the line, who we know.
I agree with the thread starter after today, although i'd never put it in a 'have your say' form!
Support from the public is uplifting as well!

Can anyone afford it? Some are just more greedy than others.

There are aspects to my job i like.. the fresh air/exercise
most of my customers!
I would go to as far to say as I'm certainly not ashamed to wear the RM uniform
The uniform (for most people) stands for something that hardly exists anymore within the upper levels of the company.
Its about a history of professionalism, service, and trust,.
the gap between that and our current reality is why today I'm on strike.

In my experience most people who have worked for the company for ten years or more really do have some pride in there appearance and there work.Its the new starters now that dont give a s**t about the job.I have been with the company 16 years now and this is the lowest i have ever seen morale but the staff i work with still try to do a great job.On a brighter note im coming up for my 20 year long service whoopeefeckindoo.

I've only been in the job just over a year now, I was on the picket line today while fellas with 15+ years service went in to work.

I was just generalising richie sorry to cause offence.I also know of men of 30 years service that went in to work.maybe it would be better put if i said a higher percentage of people with longer service seem to have more pride in the job.
