bullying

Post by kookaburra »

hi,
when i was banned christmas time for "apparently" bein in the toilet for to long. what would have i expected my union to do about it? the time was 11 mins and i know that i was in there for 8 minutes at the most,
my union rep was in the office was in the room with me when i was told about me being banned. and said nothin, when i asked why he didnt say nothing he said that he would probably be banned also. and that i should put a grievance in

basically, i just wanted to know should my union had stood up for me.?? my manager used to stare at me all time trying to intimadate me, and make comments everytime i walked past. i put a greivance and phoned the HELP line which was a total waste of time, as they didnt want to know...i felt left down by my union and now im being asked to support them when they never showed me support

I remember when i was younger working a late shift collection/processing & the manager walked me to the toilet, waited outside & then walked me back to the sorting frame. One day he said to me, "theres no need to sneak off or anything like that, if you want to go for a pint - just say & thats ok" (In those days we had a bar) - so anyway after a few weeks of thinking about it i approached the same manager & said "Shaun, i'm just going for a pint" , you can just imagine the reaction i got. You just dont forget those moments, the lying bastard.

i reported him on a number of occasions. and thats all the union ever said was keep a diray, everyday i went into work i hated it. he accused me of fraud for comin in work late...even tho it had been authorised by another manager. he threatened to suspend me for goin into the anteen and gettin a bottle of coke. it took me about 2 mins, i am not a sherker, i like a chat like everyone else but i do my work.
my union put in a letter the same day, and asked why it is that you feel the reason to ban him.? my managers reply was because he a lazy bastatd and he walks round with strut!!!. but he wouldnt put that in writtting. i asked my union for the policies and procedures and took them home for my wife to look at them. She said to me that what he is doin is bullying, and then she helped me fill in a greivance. After 2 letters to the mail centre manager asking why it was that i had no response to the letter he just shrugged his shoulders.
Alot of us feel the same now that we have been bullied or are still getting bullied by the same man. but the union where i work are absolutly usless. We had a meetin in august with a guy from plymouth. I just wish that guy was representing me i would have had confidence in the union then.
