What work will strikebreakers do?
Although thankfully the majority of posties in my office will not be working tomorrow, there are the usual runners who will be going to work. Will they be sent out on delivery or just throwing off their rounds and going home?

Hope they go out on delivery and get the third degree from the public like I did today.

I know what you mean. I got interrogated by a few people on my walk today, once I explained that we wont be out till tomorrow most we pretty supportive.
Wish they would pay more attention though.

They do not do anything. They certainly will not be going out on delivery. The only thing they do is collect their 30 pieces of silver and get used in Royal Mails propaganda. What I don't understand is all the cloak and dagger stuff - taking them in hidden in the back of vans and all that s**t.If you are going to be a strikebreaker should you not at least have the balls to walk past your colleagues.God knows they have enough support from the managers - we've been told endless times how we must not be abusive and when we all go back to work we have to make them cups of tea and buy them cakes just to show there are no hard feelings.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I don't have a problem with strikebreakers, its when they ask for sympathy for being hard done by in some way or other i don't give them sympathy. The management will probably just ***** all over these people more because they are weak people. What do we do

During the last national strike the main office, mail centre, staff were out [mostly] but some smaller delivery units around the county still worked. Three of these have now shut and the staff forced to work at larger units nearby or have left the service. Thats RM gratitude for you, they all thought by breaking the action their little cosy office would be safe, well no such luck with this bunch of gaffers

Re: What work will strikebreakers do?
They'll just do a bit of sorting in the office, nobody went out on delivery in 2007 in our office. 4 went in which isn't too bad out of 160ish staff (and 1 coward went to another office but you always find out who they are!)
The thing that makes me sick though is one says he goes in because he can't afford to strike - his wife has a good job and they have 3 cars between them, yet the guys who are the only breadwinners and totally skint every week will strike.

I think about 75% of our office will be in tomorrow so its business as usual really depending on mail volumes. Lots of walks will be completed. Its my day off but i think my floater is going in and doing my walk.
I will find out when i go in on sat morning.

Re: What work will strikebreakers do?
There was one chap who called me a scabby ba--ard when I smiled at him when he said he didn't expect any mail today. "How can you look your colleagues in the face again, he asked?"
Then when I told him deliveries were out on Friday he had a good laugh about it.
Even the headmaster at the school I deliver to wished us luck and said he fully supported the cause.

The managers in our office have told floaters who work tomorrow to do the rounds they would be doing on saturday (even if only prepping them) otherwise they would be just helping out the person who's day off it is when they might have been on strike anyway.razor wrote:I think about 75% of our office will be in tomorrow so its business as usual really depending on mail volumes. Re: What work will strikebreakers do?
Ahh our manager has said floaters have to do whatever round they are scheduled to do. However the guy who does the round she would cover on the Saturday is going in anyway, so she wont get stitched up. If she does go in.citypostie wrote:The managers in our office have told floaters who work tomorrow to do the rounds they would be doing on saturday (even if only prepping them) otherwise they would be just helping out the person who's day off it is when they might have been on strike anyway.razor wrote:I think about 75% of our office will be in tomorrow so its business as usual really depending on mail volumes.
