How do the 2 day strikes work?

I only gave the idea of a 2 day strike a passing thought until today when I can't get it to make full sense.

Day 1 stops the distribution network so that posties won't have any mail to deliver on Day 2
But posties are on strike on Day 2 so nobody will be there to deliver it anyway, thus allowing the mail centres to catch up a bit.

Surely, the strike days should be a day apart i.e.
Day 1 strikes at the mail centres
Day 2 posties deliver nothing because the mail centres were on strike the day before
Day 3 posties strike

Wouldn't this be better or am I missing something?

How is this good?

All postal workers should be striking, together in solidarity, there shouldn't be a breaking up of it even to this extent. The aim is to economically disrupt the mail service, just as you have been economically disrupted by the management and the higher management (stretching upto Mandelson et al), we must have an economic blockade against them essentially.

This worked in the past; didn't the wildcat strikes have a massive effect? Didn't the workers win? Didn't you get your economic demand fulfilled (at least to a satisfying enough extent)?

It's time for a return to workertorian values.

Athough... like this the collection staff are out with delivery therefore nothing is collected Friday giving mail centres over the weekend too much to handle Saturday afternoon...creating the backlog.

after being goe routed some time ago,well over a year.it was nice to0 finally ,after being told to sod off so many times,get sequanced mail.but why did it start this tuesday?beofre they told us we had to pay for the labour to sequance it cos it comes outta tauntons budget otherwise.

today we had more mail than usual.we were all hoping that their would be, at least less if not none.
if when i pop my head in the door to make the tea tommoz i see no mail has arrived ,ill be fookin pissed off .we already think the unions dates are barking mad.who wants to come in on a saturday and have a fook load of mail.

I have to say, the strike at the mail centers, seem to have very little effect on our work load today, it didn't stop the managers getting as much mail out as possible, and yet we are striking tomorrow anyway,so won't make any difference to us, and of course they will have time to catch up, as well as the 30,000 temp staff on hand, got a feeling Sat and Monday will be hell for us

And even if we were working tomorrow, I have still seen lots of mail arrive at our sorting office, when I came back, so basically the managers are still gettting the mail through, and this is a area we really need to look at, if we really want to being the service to a standstill, at least that way, Royal mail will have to sit down and talk, but at the moment, they don't seem to be that bother
