I WAS CALLED THE 'S' WORD TODAY!

1st how many times did you get today,'I thought you was on strike'!

Anyway, some dude called me a S*** today,i turned round and said oi,we aint on strike till tomm us on deliveries, but he just waved his arms and scuttled off.

Was at a firm and one bloke said he was in Croydon this morning and saw people hanging out of their cars abuseing another postie.

Dangerous stuff this!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yep, I had at least 20 people ask me about it - one woman said 'I thought you were one of those strike breakers' I was actually a bit embarrassed walking around as I could see people driving past and doing a double take when they saw me delivering.

:no no :no no

It's not suprising though, the local radio is just saying that Postal Workers have started a 48hr strike.

Edit: Just remembered I had a teenager say to me 'why aren't you on strike' - when I explained it was our turn tomorrow he asked if I would be striking, I said of course I would be - then he said 'respect' :Very Happy

Was called it twice and was given loads of evil looks and quite a few hand signals.
Loads of people thanked me for delivering but I did point out we are striking tomorrow.

Well done the CWU for putting us all in this difficult position.

This practise of staging the strikes in this way must stop.

Firstly you have the drivers who tomorrow will have to cross picket lines at D/OS . We all know that they have done there bit in this dispute and allready taken there action . But they still have to cross a picket line can you imagine how they must feel . If it were me my stom, ach would be in knotts regardless of whether i had allready been out. This is not an acceptable practise and if any you beleve it is well your wrong. Individuals should not be made to feel this way they should not be put in position of crossing picket lines do any of you think they will have a good nights sleep tonight i think not. I back the dispute 100% and my union but this is were the CWU have got it wrong.

The good thing about today was everyone i came across said thought you were out and i didnt mind explaining to each and everyone of them why we were not when we were and what it was all about. The responses i got were brilliant not one person disagreed and said we have there full support. What i didnt like about today was how i felt. I had many a double take of them from people passing in there cars and i felt like a scab i couldnt wait for my delivery to end. In 14 yrs and many a dispute and standing on many picket lines i have never been made to feel like this and as ive mentioned above this lies with the CWU. Did any of you feel like this today do any of you think this is a good way to organise the strikes. I was just waiting for some one to call me a scab but thankfully no one did if need be i would have chased after them i might have bad knees but i can muster up a 100 yrd dash still in record time ( ermm may be not reliving my youth )

MOONLIGHT thanks for your support it really does mean a lot us all cheers dude or dudette

I lost count of the number of times I was asked "Aren't you on strike today?" And every single one of then supported us! There wasn't a single person spoke against the strikes.
One guy asked what the reasons were, I said there were many, but mostly we were striking 'cos it annoys Mandy. He went off laughing.

thats whats wrong in my opinion the cwu should take out a spread in a daily newspaper explaining whats going on/why and when...we have to keep the public onside here and give them facts and figures so come on hayes/ward inform the public nationally
