You get paid nothing on your day off (unless you work it or are on AL)

emmaa, you get paid for the hours you work, ie if you are full time and off friday you get a full weeks wage because you dont get paid on your day off.

emmaa

a strike involves you withdrawing your labour on a day you were supposed to be at work

as you are not due at work on your day off, you would not have withdrawn your labour that day

so you get paid your full weekly wage

SIMPLES !!!

Not including the strike day how many hours will you have worked - this may help answer your question.

We do not get paid on days we do not work. Therefore if you work 5 days a week and strike 1 day (your day off) you get 5 days pay.
If you work 4 days and strike 1 day - you get paid 4 days.

What could also be confusing you is that RM will use your day off in the figures of people working normally (scabbing) on Friday!

True, but then BOTH sides will lump together all those that are on annual leave, off sick or on their floating day off on Friday, and count them towards their version of events, to try to boost their own PR angle on how many supported the strike.

Royal Mail will add all those people up, add them to the number of strike breakers, and come up with their figure of "X number of people did not take part in today's strikes".

The CWU will count those people as not having gone to work today, add them to the total number of strikers, and come up with their figure of "Y number of people supported today's strike action by not going in to work".

Any journalist with any intelligence will quickly realise that both sides are not giving a true picture, since adding the seperate X and Y figures will produce a total that is greater than the often-quoted figure of 141,000 employees
