You can imagine the response.

>.gov.uk website
Statutory paid holiday entitlement
Almost all workers above school leaving age - not just employees but also, for example, agency and casual workers - are entitled to 5.6 weeks' paid holiday (28 days for a worker working a five-day week).
Note, however, that this only applies where the leave year began or will begin on or after 1 April 2009, or where a proportion of an existing leave year, which began before 1 April 2009, ends after this date. (Prior to this date, the entitlement was 4.8 weeks.)
Also note that if your current leave year begins before 1 April 2009, you will have to recalculate your workers' statutory holiday entitlement based on the number of months in the leave year that fall after 1 April. See the page in this guide on calculating the increased holiday entitlement for different leave years and new starters.
The 5.6 weeks is a minimum entitlement - you can choose to offer more.
You can count any days off for public or bank holidays towards a worker's statutory holiday entitlement - but only as long as you pay them for that day off.
Notice the word Statutory, not "If we feel like it"

Re: Annual Leave Witheld
what they will claim is "you still have your entitlement".
best to get something recorded imo as evidence.
then ask the unions solicitor what you can do about it.
if we can counter royal mails dirty tactics by getting managers who abuse their position sacked or threatened with the sack and all of their tactic highlighted they will have to re think.
my guess is they are running out of employemnt law minor loopholes.

Re: Annual Leave Witheld
Apparently its now emerged, after the rep went apeshit, that the cluster DOM made a mistake in the wording of the WTL brief.
Apparently she meant to say that they cant allocate annual leave until we agree to lapse 6 duties as they need the extra weeks to satisfy the demands of the staff.
Sounds like a climb down after the rep reportedly sent the document to the local MP and newspaper.
In any case, this is a good example of how were treated in our office...with complete contempt.
