Am on a 25 hour 9-2 ( on average ) contract and my 8 week training - where ive been coming in to an almost fully prepped frame and then out myself doin a fixed walk - is coming to an end. I'll be a reserve or floater or whatever they are called and as I understand this involved covering peoples duties on their day off so potentially 5 different walks a week. Whats it like? Pros and cons. Should I be expecting overtime and more time to prep when doing completely new walks? Am I likely to be on a set walk on a set day? If it makes any difference about 35-40 posties at the DO.
I realise im probs gonna get shat on.

Being a floater is the best job in the office in my opinion, you get a bit of variety delivering to 5 different areas a week but you soon get to know the frames so you can prep them just as quick as the walk holders.

Leave reserve - who covers holidays, sickness, spare duties etc etc which I am and yes you do get royally f******d about. and...
Floater - which covers one sections days off, hence the same 5 walks all the time
(no offence taken btw)!

Dought youll get your own floating duty if you have only been there 8 weeks, I have been here 2 and half years and do different walks every week, this weeks is a nightmare 4 hours plus and very hilly

Thought because you said it was good had assumed thats what you did and when looking at the thread with the terminologies it said floater and reserve were the same so I gather there is a difference between reserve and leave reserve?
I have been told I will be a reserve. Now im wondering if I will be a leave reserve or a floater. Hopefully floater I gather.

No worries, no I wasnt being sarcastic about being a floater, I genuinly loved it when I was one, but being a leave reserve is truly sh*te and I suspect with your lack of seniority thats what your lined up for!
