It will take them many years to build up the infrastructure, so straight away, not a chance.

At best they will target the major cities. As with DSA they will target areas which are likely to be profitable, not on the basis of providing a service.

If they truly felt they could win a head-to-head challenge with RM, the relevant regulations etc would have been relaxed some while ago to allow the likes of TNT to do so.

Nick Wells, chief executive of TNT Mail UK, revealed his company was prepared to take on an expanded door-to-door delivery service, but admitted it would be :funneh "a massive challenge".

From what i've heard ,TNT can't even give a good service in their own country,Holland. If they do this, than they must be made to deliver to everywhere in the country and not just the profitable big cities like London.Lets have some proper comptition for once, and let them carry their own crap for the last mile, and for the price we do it at.I really don't think the so called.....wonderful TNT, would get very far.I'am sick to death hearing about what TNT are going to do and about Mandelson.bring it on.

RM say they've " adapted " them to " fit " Britain :Very Happy - the 16 hrs bit is " interesting " as it's the Tax Credits Limit ? , Walmart operate like that in the States , wages being topped up by the State .

At ASDA , I believe their staff apply for Housing Benefit etc on the basis of a flat wage , then pile the Overtime on ; then " downdial " it when they are next due for means testing .

If you're off for any reason , you get a overtime ban for a fortnight - Google ASDA / GMB Industrial Relations - some of the stuff that comes up has a vaguely or broadly familiar ring to it :hmmmm .
