beginning of the end?

Post by RoyalQuest »

I think we have lost this already, 30,000 cauals so far, a growing list of strike breakers, cwu running out of ideas, no communication from the COMMUNICATIONS union ,thats a bit of a joke in it. It's all leading to a disaster . Billy needs to resign! This needs to be sorted out before it's to late for all of us. Yes i will be on the gate till the end just hope i have some type of job to go back to.

Its only 15,000 extra staff as RM usually employ 15,000 anyway.

This announcement is just a smokescreen. It wont stop the strikes and there wil still be a massive backlog that RM hae to pay for.

f**k em and stay strong

Got up this morning put on the news looked on RMC and it's all doom and gloom, reading post on here about people not knowing about the strikes  , Growing list of members saying there crossing the picket line  . Then on the news about these 30,000 casuals a number which i'm sure will grow, just feel everyone is against us and totally let down   . I just hope that billy on sky news at 10.45 has something good to say and just don't keep saying ACAS ACAS ACAS.

Yeah it doesn't look good but our union have to think up a new strategy and maybe they should hire more legal representatives to help fight our cause. It looks bad because of all the changes that RM have in store for us but some won't be able to get through because of legal implications. It don't think its as grim as first looks. The hours they can change.
We must fight till the end of the year. The other scenario is everyone get sacked and see if RM find 121,000 to employ and deliver millions of letters.

The 30,000 temps news is exactly part of RM's 'battle of the minds' - they want posties to feel defeated right at the start, they want to impose their plans without any consessions. If people give in quickly it will make it easier for RM to continue their destruction of this public service.

Remember RM don't want to go to ACAS because they would have to conceed.

It's easy to blame the Union for this or that but members need to stand together with one voice.

On the Andrew Marr show this morning, chatting on the sofa with other guests in the final few minutes, Hayes actually complained that management were 'telling people what to do'

What a numpty. Anyone who is an employee should expect, in exchange for their wages, to be told what to do. That is the role of an employee, you klutz :d'oh! I can just imagine the overwhelming majority of people watching that show laughing at a union leader complaining that his members are being told what to do. He makes it sound like we expect to turn up and do whatever we like, with no directing or interfering by management.

My son works in McDonalds. If he normally serves on the counter, and he is asked to instead go fry the chips, as long as he has had the proper training, what do you think would happen if he refused and complained that he was 'being told what to do' ??

Get a grip, Hayes :evil/mad

You're not just embarrassing yourself, you're making all of us look stupid !!!!!

Thats it!!!.... it is a battle of words at the moment, but what is the real truth?..... we see it evey day in our DO's& MC's an have to face all that crap every day the tabloids can put what they like they dont see it......RM can say what they like thay are ignoring us and trying to sell themselfs as a wonderful company to work for......but we know whats going on in the REAL world and thats what people need to hear, we just need to keep focused and not crumble or fall at there pathectic unrealistic threats ie 30.000 casuals.....come on!! can you imagine it, them standing preping a frame of 600 odd drops over xmas :left:

workers don't have a problem with authority, everybody has a boss. it's the continual coercion, harassment and bullying that we're striking against

Why so much negativity ?, for the first time since the dispute started i feel confident we can win. Since the leaked document on thursday Royal Mail are nowhere to be seen, and as a result of that document we now know every move they're planning to make. Billy Hayes this weekend has upped his game and now appears to be getting our message across. Mandlesons backtracked and is now offering acas. Add that to the fact we now have the whole country on board thanks to a massive yes vote and i think for the first time in ages we have got Royal mail on the backfoot. There seems to be more and more positive articles coming out in our favour as well. So dont get disheartened now, whether a few people cross picket lines or not the fact remains the vast majority of the country will be out next week and if my office is anything to go by the resolve of our people is getting stronger as they know since that document was leaked if we lose this it will be the death of our industry.

Eloquently put, and I agree with you. But you and I on this forum have a small audience.

Hayes has just gone in front of millions of BBC viewers and pandered to their misguided notions - fed by the press - that we're moaning about being told what to do :d'oh!
