There should be a blanket ban on all overtime during an industrial dispute. Any help, any at all, postal workers give to management, for whatever reason, only serves to prolong a strike.
If you want this dispute to have a short shelf life, then don't go out of your way to help management clear backlogs., otherwise be prepared for the long haul. Simples.

There should have been an overtine ban from the start,never mind strike action.A backlog would have soon
built up,we would take home a full weeks pay and we would have the public on side because they would see
how far back Royal Mail have cut us.

Currently our office is under one ,so to get the staff out on time in the morning the managers are in doing nightshift prepping there duties(and they hate it) for the office to function, so the lesson here ladies and gentlemen is when they replace f/t with p/t,take sch att out,take hours out and you dont volunteer your time for a fast buck offices are planned for failure as they only work on goodwill.Overtime Ban always the way.Reality check is if your so short sighted for money you'll pay in the long run when the monies spent.

Whilst I can see why we should back it up with an overtime ban, I can see more positives why we should not.


There could be chances for some to pick up OT, however slim that might be it does happen. The we have the "Erics" if we have an overtime ban these slugs will scoop the lot, at least if there is some then the "erics" have to be part of a share out.

We had a few on nightshift doing OT the day ( minutes ) after the strike had finished , sorting the backlog , chucking rounds in etc.
Plenty of angry posties that day .
Told one of the sorters "I hope you know money doesnt buy you everything...ie my friendship back !! "

in are office rm has stopped us from doing any overtime that will clear the backlog as they won't reward us for going on strike, but when were out on delivery a postman from another office arrives and takes out a delivery thats been prepped up by managers and gets 8 hrs docket. Why? simple he crosses picket lines and has been working throughout the strike
