Deads
Due to recent changes to our duty structures in our Office, Postmen have been unable to kill off all return to sender items resulting in upwards of 10 yorks worth of mail being bagged up and the rumour is that they will be destroyed as sensitive waste even if they have a return address, is this happening in other offices and can anyone confirm if its true.

Re: Deads
Don't think it has gone that far in our gaff yet but there is a mountain building up because with all the recent cuts there is not a dedicated duty to deal with them. What used to be a frame to seg them off is now just a health and safety hazard getting bigger by the day.
Ask management to manage, just for once, and they are clueless.

are we getting bent over again
Nah mate we used to do it. We've had a revision imposed on us through EA, people can't cope with the work in the allotted time, managers are instructing people to go out on delivery and to leave Re directions and deads until another day,but come the next day they issue the same instructions hence the 10 yorks.Loads of bags have gone but theres more building up again.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We've got Ex PHG's as well but there is no duties reserved for them, they sign for duties according to seniority.
