new managers

has anyone else had posties turning to managers recently???
We have all of a sudden had 3 blue shirts turn overnight into the tie wearing scum.
this take our total to 12 managers with less than 180 postman!!!!
where is there efficiency in those sums

Thing is, they all move up with the best intentions in the world. I've seen it happen time and time again. "Oh, don't worry guys, I would never treat my lads & lassies like that. I'd take care of them."
Six months later they've all had "the treatment" and the assurances go out the window.

just seems very suspect to me, these are the same people desperate for the overtime then all of a sudden a week before a possible strike they are made up (on trial basis of course), seems more like a way of getting more work done while the strikes are on

Are they managers or just "acting managers?" We've got a bunch in our mail centre. Even when times were relatively good, it takes years and years, if ever, for them to get promoted.

yip--this brigade is usually made up of the crawlers---surprise--after the strike or whatever is over they suddenly vanish to other offices or get demoted.Sorry guys-but you are being used and the 'real' Managment have no respect for you.

We call em plastic managers as they only seem to be managing (or not ) in the mornings , ours still go out on delivery but with out a uniform.

I spoke about this a few weeks ago and at that time there was 5 candidates which have now been whittled down to two but as soon as the disputes started there was suddenly a load of vacancies for managers...............

There will undoubtedly be people who cross the picket lines, as I have said before we have a third of our staff who are part time and of those about 50% are not union members. The branch have been well aware of the situation for long and long enough .............still as ye sow so shall ye reap.............................. or more to the point in their case as ye don't sow ye don't reap...................bunch of no hopers.

Real managers are represented by UNITE. I don't know how many are actually managers or if acting ones are still part of the CWU.

So sad. I work at Mount Pleasant mail centre and because of diversions, we had very, very little work on the letters tonight (like we have for the last few weeks.) But instead of rushing around and at least trying to act busy, the managers just stood around in little clusters, talking and laughing.

Seriously, when you have a mail centre that's probably going to close, don't you try and seem indispensible? Or at least do some work? I've never seen a business going through downsizing that spares middle management. Maybe Royal Mail will be different but it was like the Romanovs in 1913, completely oblivious.
