I really would like to see a pace deal agreed between the CWU and RM and advoid strike action,but on the terms THE CWU have stated in their letter to RM.

My biggest fear and ,I guess many will be a fudge of a settlement will be reached,so come Jan I will be faced with a even bigger round than now,a round wich I physicaly will not be able to do,more bullying management and a lot later starts affecting my family life.

Just hope this time the CWU ,looks after us,if not I am up a creek without a paddle come Jan 2010.

We will get to vote on any final agreement will we not so the decision will be made by us whether its a good deal or not.

Im really hoping its nothink like the 07 agreement or we will find ourselves in deeper waters than what we find ourselves in now and its due to this agreement we are were we are today .

The writing is on the wall lets just hope the leaders of the CWU read it and understand it.

Sod the peace deal lets take the fight to them and we do not stop fighting until they have crumbled.

I truly believe its gone past the point of a peace deal we have been shate on from a great height for over 2 years now and i for one have had enough. The daily treatment we all receive is disgusting .If a manager spoke or treated there staff in the way we are by our DIMS in say a building site or any other work place they would be punched but in R/M they get away with these tactics as they are accountable to nobody.

No peace deal fight to the bitter end .

I and a few in my office could be alone,but after the last fiasco we distrust the union nearly as much as we distrust the higher management.

My fear is RM do come with another shitty agreement and stick a 'carrot' of a few hundred dabloons at the front of it...!! Because , we all know this seems to be a treasure chest to a certain percentage(the no voters)..!! We will get to vote on the final outcome and that's when probably the afore-mentioned 'no-voters' will f**k it up for everybody...!! Only the people who voted for IA should be allowed to decide on our final outcome...! WE are the members who aint happy....so We need to be satisfied...!!!

i am as ready and willing to go on strike as anyone on this site we have to be strong and all stand together ,but it doesnt stop me worring about all the previous sellouts and copouts by our ex council .
In 1971 we were out for 7 weeks and got sold out by the union and nothing has changed since then,to allay my worries, i have heard on the radio that 64 m.p,s have stepped in to try and get some proper action started, i don't think this goverment will listen to anyone but themselves
But you never know maybe this time if we get enough support we may get a half descent setlement ,i don't think one day strikes will make any difference at all ,it should be a minimum of three days for starters and also work to rule

It doesn't matter how long we are out, nor even what the agreement is, what matters is whether RM stick to the agreement or do their usual and start chipping away at it before the ink is dry.
What we must do is keep the ballot open even after any agreement so we can immediately call strikes when RM renege on their own agreements. It's not that I don't believe RM, but they tell lies.

Read your post again, Hess. Though it's easy to point the finger at the No voters, your logic is clearly mistaken. Its just like the Way Forward agreement. You try finding anyone in your office who will admit to voting for it, yet the fact is that a majority of members said yes to it, hence it came in.

In 2007, when there was a ballot of all members for strike action, the 'No' voters were in the minority. The 'Yes' voters (myself included) won the day and we had a series of rolling strikes which were very effective in creating a backlog.

Then a deal was struck, which included a bribe of £175, and a whole lot of other wording that was an open invitation to Royal Mail to say 'but you agreed to do this and this' blah blah

The deal was voted on in a ballot of all the membership and was accepted, despite my vote being NO.

Now if it was ONLY those who voted No to strikes who voted for the pieces of silver, how could they alone have f**ked it up for everybody ?? If all of those who voted Yes to strikes had also voted No to the crap offer, how did it get voted in ?

Conclusion: many of those who voted to strike must also have put their desire for a poxy £175 ahead of their principles and voted Yes to the offer. Their votes, added to the (assumed) votes of the original No voters caused the deal to be accepted.

The ones to be annoyed with are those who are prepared to lose money in supporting the strikes, but then don't even vote at all on the deal that is put before them Apathy wins the day

Forget stats.........the point I loosely tried to make was if a paper-thin proposal was shoved under our faces.....then in MY opinion probably the members who didn't vote at all or worse voted no, would snap it up..!! And if the figures still don't add up then , yes...fling in a few 'yes' voters who've s**t their drawers after couple of strike days action...!! And to be honest..like 2yrs ago..our Union SHOULDN'T EVEN LOOK at any proposal that doesn't meet our needs...!!

Money is the very last thing we should be looking for in this 'deal', there is far more at stake now ! If RM come to the CWU with crappy deal with a few pennies at the top of it they should be told to stick it up their arse

So if for example Royal Mail offer say 250 pounds for new agreement, it will mean it is worse deal for us as bigger offer will mean they hope we didn't read between the line.

So the CWU need to be extra careful.

I`ll personally never forget the day we signed the saturday allowance away for the carrot of 180? quid.
The next saturday there was boatloads of shite.

I dont think any of us are really that bothered about the reddies,its the conditions and the way we are being treated were bothered about.

Don't expect any peace deals personally, as I think this is s**t or bust for both the CWU and RM, and this one will be business changing.

take a hard look at the do,s etc being hammered by RM its an absulote disgrace its a case of looking at what could
happen to us all no exceptions,to get you have to give also no way should this membership dive at anything just to
avoid a strike.
