Personaly I think that the CWU have again dropped the ball over this dispute.

1- Too slow to see what was happening on the ground as reguards Exec. action etc.
2- Did not know the mood of the members who are suffering at RM's hands
3- Too slow to ballot members
4- Too slow to anounce strke dates
5- Too ready to give RM extra chances

All of this just gives RM more time to prepair & counter the action ( employ casuals / set up warehouses for sorting etc. more time to brief the public about the "nasty CWU who are causing all the problems " )

The public are on the whole not that interested in our terms & conditions, they just believe whatever the newspapers tell them. So the image of CWU looking nice by not rushing ahead into strikes will not last long in the publics mind, they just want their post.

If we had stood up to RM nationaly months ago, we would have had an agreement by now

This is the correct time for industrial action, increase in mail and xmas coming. I'd rather see CWU announce 48 hrs all out strike, continuing til agreement. Even through December. The public don't support so who cares. And regards to businesses moving to other companies, they'd probably move anyway, cheaper deal.

Their still at it in london, i know of 1 office in london where no postmen were allowed out on delivery today because of the huge backlog we've created down here, they were kept in to sort and prep all day, deliveries were done by loads of casuals and the've even had the IB out delivering packets but they won't break us and were back on the picket lines tomorrow

What are they playing at.. we had the opposite today sorted for only an hour? had sod all to take out as its still sitting there in the office, there even trying to clear the mail and we aint even out on strike... You wouldnt think it looking in our office though

i think they hoped that a few local 1 day strike's would do the trick. just goes to show how much out of touch the union has become. the feeling in our office is along the line's of........ all they're worried about is lossing the £3 a week they get from each of us for doing f**k all.

The backlog down here is amazing, it really does show what utter nonsense claims are that we're an old fashioned business with no place in a modern world where mail volumes are falling drastically.

Well said DH -- up in Jockland each time the RM management in the East of Scotland brought in Exec Action the strong offices
voted for Industrial Action .
I for one am very proud of the part Scotland no 2 ,my colleagues in the KY/FK, EH areas & my office has played in this dispute,we were in right at the start back in the spring & we will be there right to the finish.

My point is that the speed to which they have reacted to this RM attack on the postal service & members is too slow
