If there are better companies than royal Mail out there then why are not Joe public using those instead? Everybody is panicking because the good old Posties are going on strike & they don't know what to do, so obviously we are needed more than people think? i don't think that the general public realise what a good thing they have....at the moment?

I used to get a lot more support, but a lot of them tell me to stock pile their junk mail for them! With online bills and statements they don't seem so fussed about us now to be honest.

the general public don't send mail in any large quantities, they RECEIVE mail. It's not the general public we need to keep sweet, it's the corporations that post huge numbers of items and whose revenue pays our wages.

Someone said recently that if you go out for a meal, and you hear your waiter arguing loudly with the restaurant manager, do you really give a sh!t whether that waiter is justified in his complaint to his boss ? Of course you don't, because you are the customer, you're waiting for a meal, and his arguing is preventing you getting what you are willing to pay for. So you walk out, and make a mental note not to use that restaurant again.

But if the bulk-mailers like Amazon don't give a sh!t why Royal Mail and the CWU are arguing, they will leave and, as was rumoured in the press, sign up with Home Delivery Network, losing RM vital revenue and impacting on decisions about future job losses. Ask me why am striking and i reply,As your postal service got better in the last 2 years is it easier to post a item that dont fit in a letter box and what time do you get your post now.

i can understand where you're coming from, except for the waiter part i can empathise with him, fact is we cannot carry on like we are with the present managerial attitude. i for one cannot afford the cost for continual applications of savlon to my spanked bottom

But if the restaurant owner cared about the waiters opinions and asked him how he could help improve his lot, and what the problems were and at least looked like he was bothered by the employees concerns, then the waiter would be less likely to argue with managers in front of paying customers. Also with a workforce that feels likes its an important and valued asset to the restaurant, and the waiter himself , is more likely to provide a better service and therefore greater profits. As a customer I agree with you about not using the place, but I would also wonder what kind of place its like to work in when a waiter is so frustrated that has to complain loud enough for me to hear, it shows that there is a failing in the Management of the restaurant if workers are behaving so poorly.

Instead RM brief against us, use the Spanish Practice tactic against us and refused to negotiation. Having a meeting and say "this is how it is" is not negotiation. I also find that RM saying that the CWU at national level has been pushing this and making a political statement when nothing can be further from the truth.

Who can afford to eat in restaurants these days? The waiter is probably arguing that he can only give a sh*t service because of the way the establishment is run - and no I wouldn't go back ................the soup was cold!
