A SIMPLE QUESTION

Post by col456xyz »

I HAVE BEEN A UNION MEMBER SINCE STARTING WORK FOR RM 1N 1987.
I HAVE BEEN ON STRIKE NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE NEVER CROSSED A PICKET LINE NOT EVEN OTHER COMPANIES.
I WORK IN AN OFFICE IN THE NORTH EAST WHERE PEGASUS HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR 4 MONTHS.
WE ALSO HAVE ABSORBING GOING ON.
NOW THEN
YES PEGASUS IS NOT RIGHT ,WALKS ARN'T EQUAL AND SOME ARE OVER 3.5 HOURS.
BUT IF I GO OVER MY TIME I CLAIM,IF I DON'T WANT TO CLAIM I GET A SPLIT
IF I HAVE TIME I ABSORB,IF I DON'T I REFUSE.
YES THE MANAGERS TRY TO USE THE BULLY TACTICS BUT IF YOU WORK YOUR 40 HOURS THEY CAN'T DO A THING ABOUT IT.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION

IF I GO ON STRIKE WHAT AM I GOING TO GAIN ?????
THE JOBS ARN'T GOING TO RETURN AS THEY WHERE ETC.

RM SOMS are already looking at what savings they can make from DO's next year, so although you might not think you're fighting for anything at the moment, when they come in and tear your office apart and squeeze more out of you with EA, you'll realise that we are fighting for the greater good.

surely in the last few years you must of noticed a change in the way royal mail have changed their attidute in the work place.they want change big style and to dismantle our hard earned terms and conditions.this isnt going to change unless we stand up to them now.35 hour week is more than achievable, plus realistic duty changes rather than paper exercises and revisit places where executive action was implemented.

We should all be hoping that we regain a huge chunk of the self-pride, and dignity, that assholes like Crozier and his minions have stolen from us. Somebody has mentioned a 35hr week, I'll want some of that. I personally hope that the CWU also rings out a pay rise from the overpaid, greedy, useless, feckers at the top.

You will not get rm to abandon PEGASUS but once RM and the union are talking again you could ask for a walk to be timed.
and keep asking! put the onus on them if its a four hour+ walk they will be scared to time you. refusal to time you looks bad
on them also.
This Pegasus thing is new ground for everyone but they are unlikely to time anything when they have their EA heads on.
Hopefully EA ends after this agreement.

There is no national agreement on pegasus/georoute so you can not blame HQ only your branch or local reps who agreed to use it in the first place :no no

to give you my opinion to your question col456xyz

I believe your find that pegasus was set up for 4 to 4.5 hour walks and not 3.5 hours using the RM2000 and just over 700 delivery points.

Dave Ward has put forward a comprise offer one of which highlighted that if RM are prepared to step back from imposed change and resolve all current local disputes by agreement

The fact is Pegasus is a tool and only as good as the tool that puts the figures in and while they plan fictional walks out let them be fictional for if a walk is not tested how would it stand up in any court/tribunal it works on a computer!.

Ive worked with the pegasus system plotting walks in our office that in the end were not used .

Pegasus has so many flaws its unreal it works on postcodes and if you have a long road buts it has two different postcodes pegasus will split that road regardless of the logistics.
We had senarios were one walk was over and one under the 3.5 hrs delivery span so we wanted to add or remove one road and put or take off the chosen beat. In its wisdom and due to the postcodes peagasus wouldnt allow this making the walks unequal. Its one very frustrating piece of software and whilst R/M are using it walks will never be equal or to the agreed delivery span.

One other thing to remember is that the pegasus software is a canadian tool used to plot there walks and in canada they dont walk up pathways like we so for tis reason alone FLAWED FLAWED FLAWED and R/M no this.
