just seen this on ebay
This is what ebay are saying bout possible forthcoming strikes : We’ve expressed our concerns directly to the business secretary The Rt. Hon Lord Mandelson that it is unacceptable many hard-working small business owners selling on eBay are victims of a dispute that is beyond their control.

You hae a point here.pinstripe wrote:What will he do? Probably suggest a tax on eBay.
Why is it that selling goods on ebay incurs no income tax charge or VAT? All you do is pay a fee to ebay who are based in Luxembourg.
Surely sellers on ebay should be paying tax.

I think you will find the majority of sellers (now mostly small businesses) have to be Vat registered with eBay.pickaname wrote:You hae a point here.pinstripe wrote:What will he do? Probably suggest a tax on eBay.

Sellers remain responsible for paying the appropriate taxes on their eBay sales and purchases, just as they do for any offline transactions. We encourage all sellers to consult with their tax advisors to make sure they follow all applicable laws

That will be useful for a long meeting with Adam and Dave and co. As long they are locked in with the pie and water and no bed. As it will be a long time before they get a solution.
