Re: Dont use your cars
Problem is all new staff 22.5 hour are employed on the basis they use their car. My office is probably around 30% car use now. If it stopped ........ well there arnt enough vans to take the others out as it is!
The only way to stop it will be a RM/CWU agreement totally banning it. It wil not be achieved by freewill.

Or a total RM ban on the use of private cars is only way people will stop
Edit: which is of course what you said
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Only a doughnut uses their own car to benefit Royal Mail. There's only one or two morons at my place who use their own vehicles, and even then it's only if it's pissing down with rain and they don't fancy getting their barnets wet, so we're not too bad on that front.

Re: Dont use your cars
guys and girls, i think your being a bit harsh on people who use there cars, firstly i would like to tell you i agree with a ban on cars on delivery as i don't think they should be used to benefit royal mail, but there are some genuin reasons why cars are used and here are a few
1) Some people use there cars to get to work, if they leave there cars at the delivery office how do they get back to the delivery office to collect it, in my office people are not conveyed back to the office after delivery.
2) For some people on delivery there deliveries are on the way home, so why would they want to travel 20 minutes to get back to the delivery office only to travel that time back in there cars to get home, this is adding a potential 40 minutes to there day.
i'm sure theres more reason as well such as cutting corners, finishing early.
don't agree with these reasons!
Not trying to make excuses but sometimes it makes sense.
And yes i do use my car, but would love to stop and have tried before, but with the rest of the office no willing to give a go it makes it very difficult for myself.

Sounds like we need a few whistleblowers of our own, after all, it shouldn't be just us that knows about these shoddy RM working practises, the wider general public ought to have this forced down their throats.ashtoninho wrote:its that bad at our place now managers place certain people on certain walks cos they use there cars![]()

point 1. you are foolish to think your finnish out on your delivery your being hoodwinked by your dim dum
point 2 no mater if your on living on your delivery still use the transport they MUST provide to return you to your office this will help maintain your delivery specification within agreed limits (no absorbation etc) i did this whilst on a job that finished within 15mins of home but the upside was they could never get me to absorb etc.....

Re: Dont use your cars
Has anybody considerd to consequences of accidents in private cars. All van drivers have their driving assessed but car drivers don't. Is this leaving managers open to prosecution under the new corporate manslaughter rules should their be a fatality. Yes officially they don't encourage the use of cars but they are aware of it.

It should be a blanket ban across all delivery offices from a set date, hey tomorrow sounds good, just watch the whole system collapse as they don't have enough vans and staff to cover it!Richie89 wrote:In my office they are banning the use of cars as of next week, about time.

Re: Dont use your cars
Its simple really like what i said when i posted this Why on earth do you want to be helping royal mail out, when was the last time you got anything from them.
DONT USE YOUR CARS..... Do these people get there petrol paid for? do they have to drop there slighty over sized packets door to door? do they have Specials in there car because if you do im sure your arse is out that door if things go missing or the car gets broken in too... If you cant get your job done in the time your given because lack of van drivers its not your problem. You have Managers let them Manage for a change. If your job doesnt get finished due to no vans its there problem
