Are Local Managers totaly stupid or Else?

Post by Puppetmaster »

In our office the actions of local Managers cause concern over and over again, they impose and instruct us to do the things and practice that will cause the most difficulties to the operation and the most conflict among staff.

the best reason yo strike was by the Managers, they seem to be doing everything possible to cause conflict.

So Either local Managers ae all totally stupid( wich I do not beleive for 1 minute , and on a personal level most are ok and normal people ,who want to be Managers)
So If Managers are not totally stupid their must be another reason for their actions .

Seems to me this absorbtion thing ,1 rule is the walk that is to be absorbed must be as far as possible from the walks that will be absorbing it.We had had several walks that could be absorbed very close to the walks that will do the absorbing, instead these go out on O/T and the absorbing walks are as far away in the opposite direction as possible.

And to get you to do absorbing on days when traffic levels (mail volumes) are very high.and with out absorbtion cut offs likely ,and then with absorbstion almost certain many cut offs so what is Managers agenda?

Those that are still absorbing have shown that it can be done during the busy periods of September, even if a lot of it was done on overtime. The figures would show the implementation of absobtion is working and would bode well if they were to privatise. If this were the case absorption would surely carry on until they had found a buyer (or buyers) while the figures were shown in such a positive light. I can see some offices having to cope even through xmas.

Im going to say that all local DIM DOMS are totally stupid and lack any leadership skills what so ever.

I dont care if your a DIM DOM reading this and you object to it just dont bother typing a response as i will ignore your dim witted reply

They have no spine as they are to scared to speak up to there superiours on any issues because of the fear of being moved to a M/C or even worse put back on delivery.

They enjoy making conflict as it makes them feel important as they have no importance in anyones life else were.

Put our DIM witted DOMS in any other company as a manager how long do you think they would last .( Under 1 hr) then they would be exposed as the idiots they are.

My experince of All DIM DOMS is that they were the laziest head working postmen we had in our office and they wonder why we have no respect for them.

You are not automatically given respect you earn respect and unfortunately you dim witted idiots will never get the respect of your work force so stop tryin.

Your time is now up for Bullying,Harrassing and intimadating your work force so time to pack your bags and move to a nursery school to carry on these skills you have learnt from R/M ...

Absorption the reason they cant organise this as the way it was intended to be used is that they havent a clue just like in our office the more walks you absorb the more ppl you have on leave but no they decide to cut the nu mber allowed on A/L Dim witts.

Managers today, whether they be personable, or just plain *****, seem to me to be the most short-sighted, stoopid feckers, I have ever had the misfortune to work under, especially the fat, lazy, ex-postie, "I can't hack the job now, so I think I will have a go at being a don't-do-very-much DIM.", types.

Most managers I come across don’t appear stupid in themselves but are not able or allowed to make a simple decision about running the office without running to the phone and checking first. :left:
There being treated like puppets in a big game.
The ones in our office just want to get the deliveries out the door and go home a couple hours before I finish. Which is why they freak when we cut off and they have to work there time. :dance
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

We used to have a great manager, if the MC sent us loads ofboxes of loose mail that could have been machined he'd send it back and give them a b*llocking :dance

The managers now (whilst being decent in all fairness) just accept whatever cr*p we are given, and shrug their shoulders when walksort turns up at 8am. I think they are just resigned to the fact that the whole thing is buggered.

On the plus side I often see managers from my local office (not where I work) delivering at 2 and 3pm, sweating like pigs and wandering around looking for the next address. I just drive past grinning :chuckle

We've said for years that a royal mail delivery office manager will do EVERYTHING but solve the problem! - Its about time these conference calls stopped and area managers were told to piss off and dom's got on with the job and worked all the hours they are paid for and within those hours do the job correctly instead of wasting time.

Managers in our office have been educated at the school of sarcasm and wit, that is of course after they have finished their advanced courses in ' how to bully your workforce into doing more' for less.

They would rather bring in staff from other short staffed offices than get their own walking shoes on when staff numbers are down, their that fooking lazy. Then they sit around all morning doing nothing until the first runners get back around 12.00, so they can point out how early their back, but surely they aint that thick to know that they started an hour before their official time :pray

Saturdays is another laff, where have all the gaffers gone after 11.00 ha ha ha, they ain't stupid no one fooks up their weekend whilst some of us are still out until 1.00- 2.00 on a saturday :no no

A fact of life that these failed postmen should realise is that come privatisation they will be gone and within months.

Any new owner or partner will bring in their own management, with the proper skills and the "go for the easy life" excuse for managers at the moment will find themselves surplus to requirements.

Taking our office as a example what the company is crying out for is some fair minded management with a sense of direction, so you know where you are going.

We have had some brilliant and respected managers in the past but these were old school and now sadly retired and replaced by the current bone idle robots.

There has been days, mostly Saturdays when the manager has not shown on time and everyone has got on with the job and performed better unsupervised - FACT
Unity is strength

i even pressed a manager on this, when he continued with summer lapsing yet some of us
had actually booked more than he had potentiallly saved.
and why we only lapsed on certain days, irrespective of workload?
however the worst case of management is,he can know on wednesday that it
will be quiet next monday, yet if i turn up on thursday and it's busy we have to wait
for his manager to get out of bed before he can make a decision!

Important reminder!

Post by andy2007 »

Ok, I know that Teebs has already said this in another thread. But can you all please refresh your memories, as to the Rules for RMC. Particularly in the light of the fact, that the Press are on here. And have already taken selected quotes, to paint Posties everywhere in a bad light, and back up RM's propaganda:
Please remember everyone is welcome on this site. Customers, CWU Officers, Royal Mail Managers, all Royal Mail employees, the General Public, the press, and even MPs, so please do not resort to abuse if people of a different political persuasion or viewpoint to you, post on a thread.

If someone has a different position to you please respect their right to have differing views, and enjoy yourself when picking holes in their position in a constructive way. We would much rather have a long winded well thought out argument, picking out weak points in someone's position, than have a thread full of 1 line insults.

Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned. This also applies to posts that are not aimed at individuals but at groups.

There are too many offending posts in this thread to sort them out, without editing the majority of the thread. So I'll let it go this time. But PLEASE bear in mind the potential damage you could be doing to yourselves and your collegues, by giving them the ammunition, to claim that we're all a bunch of agressive fools. :hmmmm

I know that we've been lenient in the past (unless someone's complained). But please try to get your points across, without getting personal, or tarring entire groups with the same brush.

Thanks.

The answer is simple1 your manager makes far fewer decisions than you think.
he takes his conference call every morning which is a his "list of chores" for the day
wtl sessions he is briefed about what to say.
when he stands and tells you you cant cut off even though you say you cant complete in the time,
he does this because of fear his manager wont let him give you overtime.
i would almost feel sorry for him except he is also on a bonus the less overtime you get paid the bigger his bonus.
I'm a postman-and i know where you live.....
