Walk Sequencing

What has happened to the walk sequencing? We used to get a small minority of our mail walk sequenced but not any more. This company is going to RATSHIT under the leadership of :cfo . He was on Sky news saying modernisation was progressing and offices where changes had been made were working well. F#CKING LIES Adam :cfo The only thing that has improved is the amount of cut-offs.

Our mail is coming more and more in sacks. We were told this was being phased out and it will all arrive in trays etc. Didnt last long, going back to the 80's and 90's in our office instead of modernising. Also we have on some days 5 managers for an office that staff numbers around 110. One way to save money is to sack 1 manager in every office or make them part time and job share. All ours come in same time and go home same time. Need them to be staggered so there is always a manager in the office when people come back.

Good point, we often got sequenced bills etc but since DHL and TNT have 'improved' the service I don't think I've seen any.

I've never understood it really ... is it really that hard to print them out in order?

A lot of our sequenced mail still comes sorted to the old old walks, before pegasus 1 & 2 came in. May as well not bother really seeing as the walks have changed so much or don't exist at all. Yet more modern efficiency from :cfo !

According to our DOM our office had to pay the MC three grand a week for walk sequenced mail. As soon as summer efficiency ended so did the walk sequenced mail-saving the office money and giving us more mail to sort manually.

So much for RM trying to bring in automation and the postie opposing change!

It saves 40 minutes on prep.
Also you don't prep the walks in your frame,all you do is get your bundle,open it,and slip the flats in!

I'm guessing that aint right is it!!

We had walk sequencing for six-ish months until recently. I asked if we could just tie up into bundles straight from the tray without boxing in. Then you could box-in remaining letters/flats and operate with 2 bundles back-to-back out on delivery (watching out for keepsafes/redirections). The answer was no.

If you get your walk sequenced mail from a MC that does it on an IMP, LSM or iLSM then I would expect that you wouldn't get any walk sequenced mail during xmas pressure as the MCs will be far too busy running outward mail through the machines. It's going to be intresting to see if walk sequencing goes out the window during autumn pressure.

It can't help when MCs get letters through that have been run through a FSM which AFAIK the coding system (the bar codes they print on the envelopes) are incompatible between iLSMs/LSMs/IMPs. Also it doesn't help when the FSMs place the bar code sticky right over the address.

How many DOs and MCs have got the dedicated machines? Our MC does walk sequencing for 2 DOs but it's done on an LSM.

That, and the real possibility of strike action will mean the end of walk sequencing on LSMs etc this side of next January,I should imagine.

Is the mail sequenced to block postcode order or to the delivery office Aplus sequencing held on PAF ????

IMPs, LSMs etc don't process flats, so it's hard to think why anyone would put letters through an FSM. Different machines for a different purpose.

I think they put letters through an FSM that might not be bendy enough to go through a LSM
