WHAT SORT OF DEAL WILL BE DONE

Anyone out there know what sort of deal the CWU are looking to do when Royal Mail eventually get around to negotiating?
What does anyone think will be acceptable 'cos I ain't striking just to be sold down the river as most of the past changes seem to be on Delivery.I don't want to be devisive as we all need to stick together but I already do too much now on delivery.I assume the CWU is looking for a pay increase equal to inflation (which is NOT a pay rise) without any strings,but are Royal Mail ever going to agree to that? Then when they get around to any changes what will be acceptable?

I don't wanna sound like a cynic, but I think we're gonna get f****d over whatever happens. What we have to do is stay united and fight for the best deal we can get!

That's always a danger, but for now I don't think we have any option but to back the CWU. If the sell us out (and it's happened in the past) we've got to find some way to call those responsible to account. Personally, I can't see what is wrong with elections for national officers every year.

I totally agree with you and I'll be backing the union to the hilt. It's just I can't see us getting what we deserve, i.e. pay in line with the national average, the cessation of all slash and burn cuts, and the permanent withdrawal of threats to impose Dickensian work conditions. Anything else would constitute us getting f*cked over in my eyes, just as we’re getting f*cked over now!

It'll go one of two ways, or maybe three :)

One, they'll get back round the table and hash out a decent deal based on reality instead of fantasy

Two, we'll get the same deal, and we'll have to stand up for ourselves by doing our job the way it's meant to be done

Sad thing is there are a number in my office that have been warned when job an knock came in, then written to, still they came in early run round. They have been asked again and again but there is no getting through to them. I will go in in the morning and they will have all their mech thrown off then they will run round when they go out..... How do you get through to them?

same at our office some come in 60 mins early run round and go straight home so screws dont see what time they finish only the ones on the vans or bulks or rurals they see

Ours are seen as they all report back to the office.we have 1 who runs round so fast if it is raining he has steam coming out of the top of his head, cannot see how much damage he is doing.... nightmare!!

Be Honest everyone its all about working your hours,i dont have a problem with it ,as i want and need a FULL TIME JOB.
I think the pay for what we do is acceptable,an in line with inflation rise is always the aim.Job and finish is the problem the union must deal with.It is the same everywhere(except Burslem)people come in early carving up the job,all managemt see is savings and i would be the same if i was running a firm paying people to work 40 hours a week and they were working far less.Flexibillty and team working is what i will never accept,it wont work in this job,if we can save hours in my office i think we would rather give up a walk or 2 and absorbe them amongst the remaining walks.It saves hours and would prevent teamworking and leave people to get on by themselves.Could we give up 2 walks ?who knows ,we can only give it a try,but every one must work as 318.People cant complain when going home early EVERY DAY and then get the hump if they have to work till there time,we must change we all know that but people must do things right,d2ds how many people do them in an office?Whats wrong with doing them when its a light day or any day and justify your time of attendance.
We really are our own worst enemies when it comes to fecking the job up for ourselves,in my office its a race with a lot of them to see who can finish first,ABSOLUTE MUGS.
