government involvement

i think that we all know that the govt has a certain degree of involvement in the current situation we find ourselves in today, its worth looking at the situation that the miners were in in their dispute 1984/1985. the miners strike was caused by the government of the day ie the conservatives led by the iron lady margaret thatcher and not british coal, the result of that dispute was the privatisation of the industry and the decimation of the workforce, ring any bells yet? labour have backed away from part privatisation of our industry due to the outcry from their own mps and that of the general public, however non intervention in this dispute is going to cause a lot of ill feeling from our customers,and this in turn will give the go ahead for the next govt to re-ignite the plans to fully privatise,it will be very interesting to see who mr adam crozier ends up working for. roal mail junior management should also note that after the miners demise very few of them held onto their jobs despite their blind loyalty to the cause.

Absolutely right. In every rationalisation programme I have been through, and I have been through at least three, the coalface workers are pruned and then the lower management are culled. Cant wait to hear them kicking and squealing. If Unite think I am going to support them, they can go and take a jump. They should be disgusted at calling themselves trade unionists.

That seems to always up to now to be the case. But can anyone answer Why?
The posties both on delivery and in the M/C are at the sharp end and they see the managers threatening /standing around /off early etc. Now if the cuts were seen to be fair and some thought was put in, the atmosphere would slightly improve, but as it is was the only firm I worked for (12 year) that from the time you start they try to sack you!!

The dogs will certainly come for the management, sooner or later. Command and control, divide and conquer, the classic way of achieving the desired outcome of the few at the expense of the many.
It wouldn't work if people were by nature, concerned for each other and were prepared to fight from the outset for each others causes. Unfortunately, the innate selfishness of the human condition is used against us.
