Why did you vote 'no' for strike action?

I am very curious and interested in the reasoning why 19,000 members voted against strike action. We all know the reasons for members voting yes but I'm sure many of us do not know members reasons for voting no. It was a democratic vote and they were entitled to vote how they felt appropriate. I'm just very curious why 19,000 members voted no.

So please if you did vote 'no' I would genuinely love to know why.

I can tell you, that 1 person in my office said he was voting no because he didnt agree with striking, but if we went on strike he would go out n support us (wtf???)
i just think alot of people dont want to lose money int he short term but have not h=got the foresight to see that a no vote would mean a loss every single week.

i know we live in a society where everyone is entitled to thier own views, but are people really that stupid to see that a no vote would practicly finish us all off.

Thank you TrueBlueTerrier. I'm not trying to start a hate campaign or anything. I am genuinely interested in why people voted no.

just be bloody happy it's a yes vote. if it had of come back no we would well and trully be screwed. i believe that if we don't stand firm this time round we'll all be looking for another job within 12 month's.

I am happy it was a yes vote. However it was democratic vote and members were entitled to vote how they pleased. I'm just curious why 19,000 members voted no. Before I continue I did vote yes, I will strike and I would never ever cross a picket line. However how will you feel when members of the Union don't support the majority? When members of the Union walk past your picket line into work? Will you be happy then it was a yes vote? Cause I sure as hell won't! I'll feel like a prat! I'll be losing money supporting the cause and the majority whilst members of the very same Union will walk right past me with their head held high and into work! But yes, I'm happy the majority voted yes.

we're 2 office's in one building and the office we share with has had 4 people cross the picket line on each of the 14 strike day's we've had so far. feeling's have been running high in our office at the fact that we've been out while these 4 and the rest of the country has been working. some of our work mate's are now in deep trouble after lossing over £1000 in wage's i don't know how many if any at all voted no but i would guess the reason behind a no vote would simply be they can't aford to lose money. that said a no vote would be the end of not only our union but all of our job's.

REGARDLESS if they voted no or yes! The majority has spoken and the majority has voted for strike action. Each and every member of the Union should now be preparing to strike and not scab! Any Union member who strike breakers has to be dealt with by the CWU! Simples. I haven't had to strike yet mate. I really feel for you. It must be quite a shitty feeling knowing your losing money whilst members like me over here in Northern Ireland haven't been called to strike yet. Again surely the Union should stage the strikes fairly. I can assure you though matey, once we are called to strike over here I won't be on the picket line. I prefer the day off and the morning in bed option. Or some lucky girls bed. LoL!!!

I think it's a good question.
The losing money bit is nonsensical though cos if management plans go through unchallenged then the vast majority of the workforce will be on a tiny fraction of their present wage.

The oddest thing though is why anyone would bother to exercise their democratic right to express their view and to have it counted,when what they are voting for is to get rid of that very right,mighty peculiar

Im a yes vote and really cant afford it, and i mean cant afford it with a small family, too big mortgage and mine being the only wage coming in oh s**t yeah getting married in April, But if we dont stick together we might as well find another job. its a shame that some of the public dont realise we are also doing this for them because the service they have now is a scam... Also is there anyone else out there that has been asked to go Manager? i have 3 times now over the year and 3 people from our office have taken it? is this happening all over?

I have no issue with the people who voted no i just can't understand the people who couldn't be bothered to vote at all.

I'm yes vote but it's sad that we have to do it lets just hope that our leaders can organise it for maximum impact, and it now shows the management that it is national not a london dispute.
