Reading the comments on both bbcnews.com and skynews.com...wow, we have so little support this time around.

True about the much needed yes vote of course but I'm prediciting nothing but trouble if we do actually strike. I hope a solution can be found before hand.

I hope a solution can be found and i think the majority of the work force do as none of us want to strike. One thing we have now going into negoatiations is leverage on securing this yes vote

Stuff it as to whether the public support us, this is about protecting our rights, to be treated with dignity and respect and for change to happen in a fair and reasonable manner.
The service is going to the dogs, and only the British public could really challenge this, but as we all know they will keep sitting on their fat arses watching Eastenders, until it is too late and the postal industry is a shadow of it's former self.

We cannot fight for the higher politics of what is going on, privatisation etc... We can fight to be treated with respect.

As with any industrial action, in whatever business, the 'public' are either supportive or dis-interested until it affects them directly. So, public opinion and support is not a guarantee of getting a positive result to a dispute. That can only be achieved through the membership being focused on the task ahead and determined to see it through until a favourable outcome is achieved.

Just think on people, this has been a long time coming, yes, i will bring up the last strike where we won nothing..................

Most of you voted 'YES' to Flexability and thats where all these problems started, people who did'nt understand the meaning of 'flexability' but voted YES anyway for the lump sum (greedy sods).

Now it's back to square one, more strikes, more hardship.

We'll see how many of us crack with the next vote on a revised package.........

I talk to my customers and they don't need much explaination as to the real issues. I haven't met one who doesn't support us. Having said that, they are all working class and are old enough to have had a job in manual labour. I think it's the middle classes who never get their hands dirty or come out from behind a computer screen who need a good dose of the reality of the situation, but I don't suppose the postie ever gets a chance to talk to 'em, just their nannies or cleaners.

Public opinion is not important. Getting the issues resolved that provide us with a fair deal and improved, protected terms and conditions. The public don't pay the union subs.

Been asked by a number of customers this morning about the strike - every single one them very supportive and understood why we had to take this action when I explained what the strike was about!!!
